We were lucky to catch up with Ryan Lindsey recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ryan , appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Well Slattsonville Records started in Jacksonville,Al . Being a huge young thug fan #FREETHUG I loved the way his label seemed to move as a family ,everybody was just as important as everyone else. His slatt stood for slime love all the time and being in New York I heard the Successfully Living In My Environment (Slime) moniker and wanted the imagery behind being slimey to change. For me slatt is SHOW LOVE ALL THE TIME. Because when I was wanting somebody to learn from and looking for that direction I didn’t have it.
Ryan , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into music because even as a little kid beats/production has always made me move. Before taking real serious I used to write every single verse in middle and high school I had notebooks on notebooks of lyrics but I never had a plan to record them. My 10th grade year I linked with DjToneski and he had equipment at his house which would be my first introduction to actually recording myself. Fast forward to 2018 I met FreakDaBeatAli and now I’m fully focused on trying to make it as a musical artist. I offer features(hooks/verses/adlibs) drops(djs, businesses) SongWriting(Ghostwriting ,film, tv). My return time on any project is what really sets me apartment I never rush my process but I definitely never procrastinate when it comes to getting something done
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Back in March of 2018 I didn’t have a studio session booked but I had been wanting to go to the studio all day. I left work and went directly to the studio. Bad weather was predicted but being from Alabama we hadn’t seen many tornadoes in my neck of the woods so I didn’t think anything of it. Multiple tornadoes landed in Jacksonville Al a college town were most of the students were gone on spring break. I was in the studio recording when the tornado hit. Approximately 5 minutes down the road from my home at the time. After the weather cleared I returned home to see my apartment destroyed due to the weather the top part of my complex had no roof……….(LITERALLY) after losing everything I never gave up on music I went back to the studio the next day and finished the song I was recording (Td4N) was the first song to get me some real recognition from area
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
My business partners would be Ali & C.Henny!!! We met in a college town they were roommates. I was asked to perform at a modeling event at the school and ali just so happened to be one of the models. I was going through my set at souncheck and ali heard one of my songs stopped his modeling practice and came and talked to me about being a part of a project he was getting ready to put out and all tracks would b produced by him. It took maybe a week or two but linked up and “Money Fallin” one of my biggest songs to date was created.
