Ryan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the best advice you ever gave to a client? How did they benefit / what was the result?
One of the best facets of my business is the turnaround people have about what they think of their retirement. I talk with many people who begin their meetings feeling convinced they can never retire and will have to work until they die. After some deep diving and some planning for their future, they end up not only being able to retire but even earlier than they had expected! People may have Social Security, some retirement accounts from their employer, and maybe even a pension, but they don’t know what it means. Our specialized services educate, council and help clients potentially meet their goals in their retirement. Eventually working should be something that people want to do because they enjoy their jobs, not because they have to work to cover their expenses.

Ryan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am President of Overflow Finance & Insurance, but why is it called Overflow? Because overflow is the goal in all things in our life. An overflow is an abundance of so much that there is enough to provide for others. Finance and insurance are two of the most important parts of our lives, but there isn’t adequate education of either. How can we have an overflow in such a critical part of our existence without being equipped? How do we know how to equip ourselves or even where to begin? Overflow Finance & Insurance is your ACE – Advocator, Councilor and Educator. We want everyone to have overflow in their lives, but in order to do so, there needs to be planning and preparation. We specialize working with individuals ages 50-70 prepare for their retirements, but we encourage helping everyone of all ages. Some people need adjustments in their financial plan or insurance, while others just need someone to point them in a direction of where to begin. It doesn’t matter where you’re at now, let us help you plan to where you need to go.
We work with a multitude of insurance companies that offer Life Insurance, Long-Term Care, and Annuities, and have partnerships with people that specialize in Individual Health Insurance and Medicare. We also have partnerships with Fiduciary Advisors that can manage financial accounts. Some people may need all of these services, while some people may only not. Our role is to help determine what it is you need and provide a tailored individual plan that fits your needs to cover the expected, and unexpected moments in life.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
In 2025, people require straightforward transparency more than ever. In the age of information, there is a lot of information and disinformation about finance and insurance. With the prevalence of social media influencers, many people are promoting something. But the thing being promoted; who is it more beneficial to, the influencer or the client? And how would a person know if it would make sense for their situation?
Our whole business practice revolves around being able to explain simply what is happening in a person’s life. Discovery is a client telling us exactly what they’re doing now, and the results they’re getting now. People spend a lot of time and money putting their hard-earned money into something, but they may not understand what’s happening with it. We clearly and concisely explain what is happening and compare it to where the client wants to be. If there’s anything missing, or any gaps, to at least identify it, and then see if there’s anything we can do to help. I emphasize “if” because we don’t assume we can help clients. If there is something we can do, we are thorough in equipping people with enough knowledge to be able to make an informed decision on what they want to do.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Our dedication to our clients is more than just the individual we work with. Planning for the expected and unexpected moments in life includes their whole family. We are diligent in making sure that when it comes to retirement, healthcare costs and legacy, everybody is taken care of. Addressing the needs of our clients comes first, and those needs include the ones they love.
