Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ryan Hoppe. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ryan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Born in 1993, I grew up in Chicago with a deep love for radio. From 2000 to 2006, without a television in my home, I relied solely on radio shows for information and entertainment, tuning in to local Chicagoland stations and streaming shows from other cities. I was captivated by iconic programs like “Roe & Garry,” “Eddie & JoBo,” “The T-Man Show with Rob Tepper,” “Mancow’s Morning Madhouse,” “Opie & Anthony,” “The Howard Stern Show,” “Jonathan Brandmeier,” and many others. It’s safe to say that my passion for radio runs deep!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
After graduating high school in 2012, I began my radio career with WHCM 88.3 FM (Harper College Radio) from August 2012 to February 2013. I later interned at the Morning Show Boot Camp in Chicago in 2013 and 2014, which allowed me to build important connections in the radio industry. Seeking formal training, I enrolled at the Illinois Center for Broadcasting, leading to an internship at Dance Factory Radio, where I honed my production skills under the mentorship of Luis 2 Live.
My first big break came with the “Hoppe & SuperRICH” show, co-hosting alongside Ryan “SuperRICH” Stuprich, Ryan Risky, K-Wall, and Timmer The Video Guy. The show aired on WNUR 89.3 FM (Northwestern University Radio) from June 2013 to November 2014, and provided a platform to blend creative talk segments with popular 2000s music.
In January 2015, I joined the nationally syndicated “Rover’s Morning Glory” in Cleveland, and in March 2015, I transitioned to 102.5 The Bone, where I worked with notable hosts like Mike “Cowhead” Calta, Drew Garabo, and Roger & JP. I hosted “Hoppe Hour” during “The Mike O Radio Show” and “The Mike Calta After Show” from November 2020 to August 2022. Financial limitations led me to explore new opportunities beyond these rewarding experiences.
From August 2022 to April 2023, I worked with iHeartRadio Tampa Bay’s “Beckles & Recher” and “The Pat & Aaron Show” at 95.3 WDAE. Following this, I joined Beasley Media Group from April 2023 to October 2023, serving in the promotions department and as a backup producer for the highly rated “MJ Morning Show” on Q105, guided by Todd “MJ” Schnitt.
I briefly worked for a conservative radio company, which wasn’t the best fit for me. In May 2024, I returned to Beasley Media Group, now hosting “Hoppe Hour With Ryan Hoppe.” This show is syndicated on Podcast Radio US, airing in Tampa Bay, Southwest Florida, North Carolina, Savannah, Georgia, Detroit, Missouri, and the United Kingdom. It offers the energy of a morning radio show within a podcast format and can be found by searching “Hoppe Radio” on major podcast platforms.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
“Haters are just fans in disguise.” I used to respond to every comment and engage in arguments online, especially being as outspoken as I am. But as I’ve grown older, I’ve learned to let it go. Now, I don’t care about the negativity anymore!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Growing up, I had a noticeable stutter due to my ADHD and Bipolar diagnosis. After attending numerous speech classes, I’m proud to say it’s about 92% improved!
