We recently connected with Ryan Garrison and have shared our conversation below.

Ryan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?

I absolutely take vacations or just time off. I pour so much into my business, from performing the actual services to promoting, running my social media, and maintaining my home life. Sometimes, I become exhausted, and it can take a toll on my mental health. Therefore, I take time off to recharge, reflect, and redirect. I may choose to stay local, fly to another city, or even go out of the country. I love traveling with my son because he gets to see the world and try new things.

Ryan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Ryan, the owner of Relaxation By Ryan Waxing Studio LLC. I specialize in eyebrow waxing and tinting, as well as other services such as Brazilian waxing and facials. I also have my own vegan and cruelty-free product line, which includes an eyebrow fill-in pencil and an eyebrow & lash clear setting gel. Additionally, I offer waxing classes and provide mentorship to aspiring estheticians and cosmetologists.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

To initially start and fund my business, I worked three jobs simultaneously, each playing a different role in getting my business off the ground. My main job provided me with the opportunity to learn how to do brows and practice building my client base, as well as familiarizing myself with the products I offer. My second and third jobs, on the other hand, allowed me to purchase the necessary products and equipment for my business.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

I have found word of mouth to be an effective way of building clientele. When someone is satisfied with their services, they are often willing to share their positive experience with friends, family, and colleagues. Additionally, posting my artistry on social media has proven to be highly effective for me. I also promote my business everywhere I go, whether it’s handing out my business card in the drive-thru while grabbing lunch or approaching someone with beautiful eyebrows to compliment them and share information about my business or show them my work on my social media pages.
