We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ryan Correll. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ryan below.
Ryan , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
Before I start I would like to Thank Canvas Rebel for taking interest in hearing my story. I initially learned the mechanics from watching performers better than me. Some of my inspirations are Micheal Jackson, James Cody & Marquese Scott.
As far as progression, I could have taken lessons or Masterclasses from big dancers but I found some skills that were placed in my tool belt. From observing their mindset.
Skills that I still utilize would be not being afraid of failing. We fall or fail it’s just how we get back up that matters..
A huge obstacle that I had to overcome would be “ self-comparison “
Learning my own grove rather than completely embodying your Teacher.
Ryan , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was introduced into the creative works, by watching different dancers or creatives on YouTube. Their consistency with there posting made me understand that this wasn’t an overnight thing. This made me gird my loins and work even harder.;Taking the ingredients that I learned, I was able to muster up enough attention to land sponsorships from “Warheads” and “Triller” also other significant feats.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Well, this one’s kind of personal but I feel like you as the reader would benefit from my trials. I was sexually assaulted about a week before I got this opportunity. This was a really traumatic experience for me, but I’m still pushing and thriving for my goals. May this be a beacon of hope for anyone who’s ever been through this. You are not alone! It doesn’t change the person you are.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My mission through my journey of self- discovery is to inspire others regardless of what you’ve experienced or gone through. You still can get back up and dust yourself off! Keep Going!
