We were lucky to catch up with Ryan Bigham recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ryan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
As a kid music has been apart of my life. From me being a choir boy in church to me becoming a rapper music has played a huge roll in my everyday life. I started listening to rap at a very young age and I’ve always said I wanted to do music. I was raised on every genre there is. I didn’t start rapping until I was 15 but took it seriously at 18 and that was all thanks to my cousin “Raetros” he really seen the potential in me and what I can do and he was the one who pushed me and taught me the basics I needed to become a successful artists today. I never rush God’s plan so I did my part in promoting myself, doing shows, going to interviews so I wasn’t trying to speed up any process. I like to take my time and perfect any and everything that my name is attached to. The most important skill I have learned and taught myself to have is “PATIENCE” you can’t rush greatness because if you do it leaves room for failure. My biggest obstacle that I believe stood in my way at the beginning was self doubt, I was my biggest critique. I would let myself talk down on the things I was doing because I was worried about how others would take my music but that was quickly erased due to the great and supportive people in my corner.
Ryan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started rapping for real back in 2018. I’ve always been a music head and had an ear for music. There’s no genre of music that I won’t listen to. One day I started to just mess around with this app on my phone called GarageBand, that day is when I made my first song on nothing but headphones and an iPhone. A couple of months later, I dropped my first seven-song EP project called ‘Son of Gucci’ (available now on all platforms) featuring all the talent from 3x The Label and Team Tros, including Bank3x, 3didit, & Raetros. After I dropped that, I just continued to drop more and more music my biggest hit right now is my new single ‘Hit After Hit’ feat Bank3x. I now have another rendition to the “Son of Gucci” body of work when i drop my first 10 song album “Son Of Gucci II”. There were times where I felt discouraged but my label always had my back and always pushed me to be great. This music industry is not easy but I know for a fact that I’m next up and all I gotta say is JUST WAIT ON IT!! I’ve had many times where I wanted to quit music but thanks to the great support system I have they kinda pushed me to be the artists I am today.
: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Everyone wants to make it out the hood or even just their home town. My goal was to use my craft to male a better life for myself, my family, and my future generations.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Seeing others reactions towards your work. It’s the most satisfying feeling to actually have your work make some feel emotional.
