We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ryan Benjelloun. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ryan below.
Hi Ryan, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Back in 2019, I started posting on TikTok.
No blueprint. No brand deals. No “creator economy.” Just me, a phone, and an idea: What if I just made stuff I actually enjoyed?
At the time, no one in London was doing it. I’d walk into rooms and get side-eyed. People made jokes. They’d say “That TikTok app? That’s for kids.” Or they’d act like content creation wasn’t a real path — like it was some phase I’d grow out of.
But I kept posting.
I’d stay up all night editing, testing ideas, trying things that didn’t even exist yet in the UK space. I treated TikTok like a job before it ever paid me like one.
That was the first big risk:
Choosing to go all in on something before it was socially acceptable to even admit you wanted to be a “content creator.”
But it wasn’t just the time I put in — it was the creative risks too.
I’ve never stuck to one format. I’ve done skits, voiceovers, POVs, serious talks, chaos comedy, visual storytelling — everything. And each time I switch up, it’s a gamble. What if this flops? What if my audience doesn’t get it? What if I ruin my momentum?
But that’s the thing — I’d rather risk growth than get stuck in a loop.
And now here we are — 6.2 million on TikTok. 1 million on Instagram.
Not because I followed a trend — but because I was willing to start before the world said “go.” Because I stayed fluid with my content and trusted my gut.
Looking back, every “what if” was just part of the process. The people who laughed? They’re watching now. The content that felt risky? That’s the stuff people remember.
The truth is, the biggest risk wasn’t starting TikTok in 2019.
It was staying true to my voice while evolving.
And that’s what I still do today.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hey — I’m Benji. Creator. Storyteller. Chaos conductor.
You might know me from TikTok (6.2M strong) or Instagram (1M and counting), but before any of that, I was just a kid in London with an iPhone, some ideas, and no roadmap. I didn’t wait for permission — I started TheBenjiShow in 2019, back when TikTok wasn’t taken seriously in the UK and people laughed when I said I was “making content.”
Now? It’s a full-time thing.
A platform. A brand. A universe, honestly.
I started by posting consistently, experimenting wildly, and ignoring the noise. There wasn’t anyone in London really doing what I was doing — so I took that as a green light. I wasn’t trying to copy what was working elsewhere. I wanted to create what wasn’t here yet.
TheBenjiShow became my way of mixing humour, storytelling, visuals, and energy into something that felt fresh. Whether it’s skits, surreal commentary, high-energy POVs, or emotional beat switches — I don’t stay in one lane. That’s intentional.
I’ve built an audience by constantly evolving and never boxing myself into one type of content. And that’s a risk I’ve taken again and again: being unpredictable on purpose.
At its core, TheBenjiShow is entertainment with meaning.
Whether it’s a 15-second sketch, a longer-form series, or branded content, everything I create is designed to either make you laugh, feel seen, or see the world differently. I produce:
Viral videos with substance
Concept-driven skits & storytelling
Creative brand collaborations that don’t feel like ads
Experimental content that pushes platform norms
Character work + voiceovers that blur fiction and reality
For brands: I help you connect with Gen Z and Millennial audiences through content that actually feels native to the platforms — no cringe, no copy-paste influencer stuff. I care about fit, creativity, and authenticity. That’s why the best campaigns I’ve done don’t feel like ads — they feel like extensions of TheBenjiShow.
I don’t play it safe. My growth came from taking creative risks, not chasing algorithms.
I’ve created my own style — not just followed trends.
I wear every hat: writer, actor, editor, director. It’s all in-house, all heart.
I switch it up constantly. That versatility keeps my content fresh — and my audience engaged.
Honestly? The consistency.
From 0 followers to millions, I’ve never stopped experimenting, evolving, or creating from a real place. I didn’t wait for validation to begin, and I’m proud I trusted my gut before the numbers came.
But I’m also proud of the impact. I get messages from people saying my content got them through dark days, or inspired them to start creating. That’s the real win. If I can entertain and empower? I’ve done my job.
TheBenjiShow isn’t just a show — it’s a movement.
It’s about showing up boldly, taking risks creatively, and never dimming your weirdness. Whether you’re a follower, a brand, or someone just discovering me — know this:
I’m not here to fit in. I’m here to push culture forward.
And I’m just getting started.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
At the core of TheBenjiShow, the mission is simple:
To entertain boldly, create fearlessly, and inspire others to take up space being exactly who they are.
I didn’t start creating content to be “liked” — I started because I felt like something was missing. A type of energy. A type of raw, unpredictable, real creativity that didn’t follow the rules. I wanted to show people what it looks like to go all in on yourself — even when no one gets it yet.
That’s the goal:
To show people — especially the next wave of creators — that you don’t have to fit into one box, one aesthetic, or one type of content to be successful.
You can switch it up. You can experiment. You can build a whole platform off being unapologetically you.
I also want to keep raising the bar creatively — not just riding trends, but setting them. Bringing more cinematic, conceptual, and emotionally layered content to platforms that people usually scroll through without thinking.
If TheBenjiShow makes someone laugh, feel seen, and feel like they can take a risk on themselves too? Then I’m doing what I came here to do.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding part is impacting people I’ve never even met — just by showing up as myself.
It’s knowing that something I made at 2AM in my room — whether it’s a skit, a raw moment, or a chaotic character video — could make someone across the world laugh, feel less alone, or feel inspired to finally start their own creative journey. That’s wild to me.
It’s also the freedom.
Being able to wake up and make something that didn’t exist yesterday — that’s a privilege I never take for granted. There’s nothing more fulfilling than building something out of thin air and watching it connect with millions of people, not because it’s perfect, but because it’s real.
But the biggest win?
When someone messages me saying,
“I started creating because of you.”
That’s it. That’s the reason. That’s the fuel.
At the end of the day, being a creative isn’t just about content — it’s about expression, connection, and legacy. And that’s what I’m building with TheBenjiShow.
