We were lucky to catch up with Ryan Allen recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ryan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
The kindness thing .. My mom and my home make teacher Mrs. Beasley randomly signing me up for culinary school with no knowledge from on my in. Until i walked into class one day in high school and my homemake teacher asked me if i would like to go to college. I laughed said me really a s.a.t test , Then she asked if i wanted to leave GA after school. I said Id do anything. She said good cause your going to JWU in Charlotte if you want.. If it wasn’t for them two who knows what my story would be but most like still living in Valdosta GA.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My brand is friendchickensanwich production so i believe in individuality and quality over quantity. I started my photography journey as a fine art photography working in mediums of journalism, street, nature/wildlife photography. Within my 1st year my work was presented in the Harvery B. Gantt Center in charlotte. Which lead me to start looking into selling my art as NFT and opened the door for me to by 1 serval artist to work with Bojangles and Vayner NFT to created their 1st nft. In which half my time is still spent on working on art project within my community and digitally.
All this with my 17 years of cooking along with some awesome friends and hard opened the door to stepping into Food photography along with event/ micro wedding . In my commercial freelance business I believe quality over quantity is key while I’m growing. Creating content that captures your product or moments and memories along with brand’s personality in a way that is organic and personable.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My long term goal is to open a market. Think Bodega meets general store with a huge influence from art and community.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Like many in life creators or not, anxiety is real and metal health is everyday health. Some days easy. some days the hardest thing to do is take the next step.
So Really learning how to focus on my breath and the different ways of breathing to help calm or along with tapping and pressure points has been huge to curb anxiety, frustration. Being able to change my attack thoughts in my brain or my emotions at any moment just by finding a area to close my eyes and focused on the breathes I take. Has been one of the most beneficial things I’ve done for my self and has lead me to conquer moments I would have other wise talk my self out of.
