We recently connected with Ryal Music and have shared our conversation below.
Ryal, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Building and developing our synth-pop duo has been one of the most meaningful ventures.
We have been in a band writing, recording, performing, releasing for 10 years now and making this music and learning and growing together as artists has been a gift.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Ryal is a synth-pop / indie-electronic duo based out of NYC, comprised of singer, songwriter, keys player Jacque Ryal and multi-instrumentalist and producer Aaron Nevezie.
Influenced by works by Bonobo, Thom Yorke, Sbtrkt, Tame Impala, Damon Albarn and Jesse Ware, our focus is on creating story-rich songs that you can dance to.
Previous releases have lent comparisons to acts like Little Dragon, Robyn, Sylvan Esso and Goldfrapp.
We have had the incredible opportunity to have our songs played on ABC / Disney morning shows weekly since 2020 and have received the kindest accolades from publications like LadyGunn, WFNM, Pop Dust, Time Out NY and more.
We met at The Bunker Studio in Brooklyn when Aaron produced my first band. Once the band broke up, I began writing pop songs and was looking for a production partner. I went to Aaron and asked if he would be interested in working on a track and that one track lead to over 50 songs we have written, recorded and released.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
We want to build community and create live show experiences that leave people inspired and sweat dripped from dancing.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The moment when a track comes together, whether it be a lyric, a drum fill , a synth-pad or something that turns the song on its head and then reshapes it. Whatever it is, when the song comes together, that is the cherry on top, the icing on the cake, the drug.
Additionally it is all about connection! That moment where you write and release a song that a listener responds by saying – “Yes, this is EXACTLY how I feel”. That is the end all be all!
