We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ruth Cooper. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ruth below.
Ruth , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Since a very young age, I’ve had a strong desire to help others. For many years, I became deeply involved in my church, opening our home to those who needed a head start in life. We offered them work, a place to live, and guidance—helping them take a positive approach to life while experiencing the warmth, stability, and love of a family. Family has always been a priority for me, and building meaningful memories together has been at the heart of everything I do. Fast forward to the birth of the D Dream Foundation. One day, while enjoying Disney with my daughter and granddaughters, I found myself reflecting on how fortunate we were to experience such joy in the magical kingdom of Disney. That moment stirred a deeper question in my heart—what about families facing hardships who can’t afford a trip like this? What about those navigating illness, divorce, or the challenges of being a single mom?
From that reflection, a dream was born—For families facing illness, financial strain, divorce, or single parenting, a weekend away offers something priceless: normalcy, joy, and the reminder that life still holds beauty. We are offering connection, healing, and hope.
A famous quote that we take to heart is from Gandi-“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
The D Dream Foundation is a family-run nonprofit that not only offers meaningful weekend getaways but also gives back through hands-on giving. Several times a year, our team comes together to cook and serve meals at Quantum House—a home that supports and cares for families whose children are undergoing treatment for serious medical conditions.
We may not be able to save the world, but we’re committed to doing our part—one family, one moment, one memory at a time.
We truly come to life through the stories shared by the families we serve. One such story involved two boys adopted from China who had experienced fear, abandonment, and even moments near death. At the time of their adoption, they had just one simple wish—to see a butterfly and a rainbow.
Through D Dream, these boys were able to experience so much more than they ever imagined. Witnessing their joy, love, and appreciation reminded us why we do this work—it made every effort worthwhile.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
We are supported solely through donations, and at times, this journey can be discouraging. But the impact we’ve witnessed in the lives of the families we serve is the force that keeps us going and reminds us why this work matters.
When we first started, the funds came directly from our own pockets until we were able to get the word out and invite others to join us in this mission.

How did you build your audience on social media?
As a fairly new foundation, we are still in the process of expanding our social media presence and reaching a wider audience.
