Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ruqone. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Ruqone thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
When I was in 7th grade. A classmate gave me a Parliament live album. I took it home listened to it and fell in love with music. It was around this time that I started really noticing hip hop culture.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started with an iPad and the MPC app. I made absolutely awful beats, but I learned and kept improving. I’m most proud of my commitment to be a better producer and make the kind of music I like. It’s a bonus if the public likes it too.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I know streaming services have made music easy to consume for listeners, but in order for independent artists to continue to make their way, they need direct support from people who really rock with them.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Yes. YouTube. I think I’d have more exposure if I had been more active on YouTube 10 years ago.
