We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rudy Simpson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rudy, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Working as a project manager has helped me understand the importance of structure when working toward any goal. I started my career in the nonprofit space and noticed that many organizations had amazing missions of how to impact humanity but lacked the knowledge on managing the project. I decided that my mission would be to provide that knowledge so that their work could grow and scale.
Rudy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Rudy A. Simpson Jr. a community development strategist and Agile Coach from Atlanta, Georgia. I strive to advance strategic initiatives while overseeing community engagement communication and expanding the philanthropy footprint. Since consulting in this space, I’ve been recognized for my significant work in positioning NGOs, commercial real estate firms, government entities and other organizations in becoming prominent figures within their community.
Working with NGOs early in my career taught me the importance of core values and mission. I later learned that obtaining a wonderful mission means nothing if your organization’s processes and systems aren’t structured properly. Agile & Scrum coaching lead me to new ventures and collaborations with clients in various sectors of business such as commercial real estate, e-commerce, political reform and many more. The experiences provided me a more dynamic view point of execution and efficiency. Something I strive to bring to every project, company and organization is to understand the importance of creating a winning environment and controlling ones narrative.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What helped build my reputation within my market would have to be my philanthropic spirit. No matter the environment or initiative I was apart of, I made sure to always serve those around me with love. By creating this type of atmosphere, those involved have been able to experience my philosophies first hand understanding the value of serving our fellow man. My prayer is that when people say my name something positive follows.
Have you ever had to pivot?
A time I had to pivot in life would have had to be when my father passed away. I was a freshman in college and at the time was not sure exactly what I wanted out of life. Following my father’s death, I jumped into entrepreneurship head on and started my journey in the business of philanthropy.
