We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rudy Martinez . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rudy below.
Rudy , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
The ultimate goal to focus on my painting, design & expand my tee shirt company full time. I believe hard work pays off and that’s what I will do until my goal is achieved. DIY is what I enjoy plus it keeps me involved and the minds creativity going.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started painting around 6-7 years ago. I came across an old box with a canvas, bad brushes and dried out paint. While figuring out my next move I painted Pennywise from the film It. It was decent for my first time. What pursued was a love for art and a way to paint anything horror related. Fast forward the pandemic hit and I lost my job. So I needed to figure out a way to make some quick cash and within a few days I created an Instagram account. I started to upload time lapse vids and pictures of all my artwork. I am very appreciative to all those that have purchased my art, and continue to share my work.. Another passion of mine is tee shirt design. I am a huge fan of horror & the occult. So I went ahead and created Koffin Krew Apparel. Koffin krew Apparel focuses more on fashion tee shirts, hoodies, long sleeves, tanks and more. We currently have an online shop & Instagram account. We drop new merch frequently so check out Koffin Krew Apparel on Instagram.’

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The smiles on my clients faces when they see the artwork i created for them. When new Koffin Krew Apparel Merch drops and I see clients wearing my gear.. That makes all the long nights and hard work worth it.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My social media follower count is very small not even in the thousands. I see many new small business owners get frustrated due to sub count not moving as quick as it should. Don’t focus on that focus on the ones that do follow, interact and of course purchase. Interaction is key whether you like a comment, reply, or share, it all goes a long way. Plus your customers will appreciate it very much.
