We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rudament The Producer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rudament, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I’m in a position that is fueling life to the music industry from the independent Artist’s perspective in an area that it hasn’t had much life and that is the NYC and Philadelphia area. I have created a platform through the help of close friends and it is allowing Artists who either had or has some guidance as well as those who have none to occupy the same space and get the feedback they didn’t know they needed, that will take them to the next level if they are seriously aspiring to be something MORE in their career(s).
Since the northeast is where a lot of music started, it’s only right this is where music begin to recall attention to the next school of superstars coming through.
I’m here for it, and ALL genres are welcomed.
_ Ruda

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started at the early age of 4 by learning to play different instruments, and professionally, I have been helping put music on the radio since the age of 16 back when I was working out of Live Tracks Multimedia INC with Howard Jackson on 52nd St & Girard Ave in Philadelphia.
At this time, I was also playing night clubs on south street with live bands. I would play drums, hand percussion or keyboard.
Nowadays, people come to me to help them develop an undeniable sound that will win them greater opportunities musically and ultimately change their lives.
I’ve recently started a show out of Brooklyn called, Rudament’s “Who’s NEXT??” that will help Artists to discover any ways they can improve.
If they esteemed judges rule the song is so good, they want to hear another, they hold up a sign that says “YES” and that artist will be given the opportunity to advance and play another song.
At the end of the night, the Artist who wins will have the best song and will win a Production deal from Rudament The Producer including coaching, mixing, mastering as well as a beat from Rudament. The winning act will also gain exposure from online promotion of winning the event, as well as recieving an interview on NYC radio.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Not everyone is your friend.
I’ve been going through life looking to add value to everyone I come in contact with; even if they may not have value to add to me, and I had to learn to create boundaries. Doing this properly just minimizes risk and/or disappointment.
If someone you let in does add value to you, never take it for granted and always do whatever you can to nurture that relationship. It doesn’t happen every day that you meet a genuine/good person with good intentions for you so when you do, you keep them close.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Yes. Some people ask me this, so I originally started building my online presence by changing my sleeping pattern for at least a year. I would go to sleep at 6AM, and I would wake up at 2pm-3pm and I would go online anytime I wasn’t in the studio and I would be online networking/building resources. Not just following and commenting, but actually building relationships and pulling up on people.
