We recently connected with Ruby Dolce and have shared our conversation below.
Ruby, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
In short, my parents did everything they could—and continue to do everything they can—to help shape me into the person I am today. While no parent receives a handbook when bringing home their child, I can speak from experience when I say that my parents truly did their very best. The values they instilled in me are evident in the way I approach my work, as well as in the care and dedication I bring to every client relationship.
Growing up, my dad worked a demanding job that required long hours and frequent travel. After we were born, my mom made the decision to leave her career behind to become a stay-at-home mom. With my brothers and me being close in age, I can only imagine how challenging it must have been to juggle everything, especially in those days. Yet, despite the demands, we traveled with our dad on every possible trip, shared countless meals together, and, most importantly, learned the invaluable lesson of family togetherness.
To this day, my parents remain two of my greatest sources of support and inspiration. They continue to challenge my creativity and help me refine my skills—both as an artist and as a businesswoman. Not only are they my biggest cheerleaders, but they are also some of my most loyal clients, not out of obligation, but because they genuinely believe in me and my work. This unwavering support is not a new development; even as my brothers and I pursued completely different paths in life, my parents managed to individually and equally support each of us, never showing favoritism.
What stands out most about my parents is their boundless generosity and love. They give freely from their hearts to everyone they encounter—whether family, friends, or strangers—without hesitation. Their encouragement for others to pursue their dreams and reach for the stars is unwavering. They always listen, offering thoughtful advice when you’re faced with challenges, whether personal or professional. Through their example, they have instilled in me the importance of family bonds, respect, kindness, education, and generosity.
It is my sincere hope and prayer that these values shine through in every interaction, project, and event with my clients. Their influence is woven into the fabric of my work, and I strive to pass it on through the care and attention I dedicate to each and every project.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
As a creative, I believe one of the main challenges non-creatives might struggle to understand is the emotional and mental journey that comes with the work. It’s not just about “creating” something; it’s about constantly navigating self-doubt, the pressure to be original, and the emotional highs and lows that come with putting your ideas out into the world.
A non-creative might think that the creative process is purely about inspiration and that it’s always “fun.” However, for many creatives, it’s often a battle between confidence and insecurity, inspiration and frustration. There’s the fear of failure, the challenge of staying true to one’s vision while accommodating feedback, and the uncertainty that comes with trying to make a living from something that’s often deeply personal.
On the outside, it may look like we’re just making things for the sake of it, but behind that process is a lot of thought, effort, and often a sense of vulnerability. I think this vulnerability, combined with the continuous need for innovation and the pressure of deadlines, is something that can be hard to convey to those who don’t experience it themselves.
So, for anyone who might be reading this, it’s important to realize that the journey of a creative is often not linear. It’s full of bumps, challenges, and growth that may not always be visible from the outside, but those experiences contribute deeply to what we create and how we connect with the world.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
In July of 2023, after a decade of steady employment at one of Tampa Bays top wedding and event venues, I suddenly found myself facing unemployment. For years, my business had been a reliable source of supplementary income, my creative outlet and my “happy place” but with the lack of time and resources to pour into I was unable to focus on it like I really wanted to. I had become comfortable in my routine, thinking everything was fine, until it wasn’t. The decision I faced was unlike any I had encountered before: Should I search for another “career” opportunity and return to the corporate world? Should I take the leap and focus full-time on my business, maybe even take on a side job to support it? I had no clear answer, and the uncertainty was overwhelming.
I decided I had to make a complete pivot. The fear of the unknown was paralyzing at times, but despite all the doubts and challenges, I made it through. With the unwavering support of my family, friends, and some truly remarkable clients and colleagues, I managed to navigate the turbulence. The first year as a full-time entrepreneur was full of growth, and it’s a testament to what can be accomplished when you have the right support system and the faith needed to face the unknown.
