We were lucky to catch up with RTX Peso recently and have shared our conversation below.
RTX, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
The biggest risk I’ve taken is dropping out of college to work and focus on my craft. I was a full-time student at the University of West Georgia and the timing of it all happened during my biggest period of dealing with the grieving process from losing two loved ones and having watch another loved one with one foot out the door. The pain became too much for me and I felt like if death was looming all around me then I might as well put my all into what I care about most and that’s my craft. After doing so I’ve built something that I couldn’t even imagine from when I first began. From multiple interviews with different outlets, creating bonds withs different creatives, and becoming the first remote performer in history for Encore, which is a company co-founded by my favorite artist, Kid Cudi. I’d say I’m on the right path for sure!

RTX, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I think subconsciously I’ve always wanted to be in a field where I could create and perform music. When I was little, I wanted to be the next Usher so badly, He’s still a big inspiration to me to this day. At the age of 13, I got into music unknowingly as an escape from everything else. It was the one thing I could control that I didn’t necessarily have to share with anyone. It got me through so many different experiences in my life and has been one of the few things that has remained a constant in my everyday motions. I have my mom to thank for my love for the craft mainly. Without her instilling as much knowledge of the history of Hip-Hop/Rap, R&B, and Reggae music at such an early age, I don’t think I would be as far into my craft as I am now. Something I want anyone who comes across my music is that I made and released these bodies of work because they are my expressions of real emotions. A lot of the time, artists get caught up in creating these alter ego’s that their real identities do truly get lost in the crossfire. I make sad songs when I’m sad, I make fun songs when I’m having fun. It’s okay to be human.
: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to leave a mark on this world. I want my music to be there for people through every emotion just as other’s have been for me. I don’t do this for fame, I do this for the oddballs that got looked over for being different but didn’t realize that what makes them different is also what makes them special.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Right now, I would have to say how proud my family is of me for pursuing what really makes me happy. They see me perform and see all the people that turn out to enjoy the music I make and it blows their mind every time. They always pushed me to go to school because of how unforgiving the world can be but with the progress I’ve made, I think I think nowadays they believe in my craft more than I believe in it some days. That’s real. That’s love.
