We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rrieon Grigsby a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Rrieon, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

Since I was a teenager, I have always suffered from acne scaring. I have a lighter skin complexion, so that messed with my self-esteem terribly. I tried every solution to fix the blemishes. Then, one day, I did a little research on ways I could clear my skin without destroying it. I used a turmeric mask and that helped.

Then, I started thinking, what if I created a facial soap with turmeric? So I did, and got the “Brightening Bar”. Then, I started my handmade, all-natural skincare company called “Pearls & Petals Skin”. When creating my products, I wanted to help people. So I test them on myself first. I soon discovered that it helps with arthritis and joint pains. And it’s full-body friendly. The turmeric ingredient helps with inflammation and evening skin tones.

Rrieon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

The Pearls & Petals Skin “Brightening Bar” treats acne-prone skin. I’ve gotten acknowledgments about my product and I have been getting some recognition. I want to encourage everyone to go with their gut and do what’s happy for them.

Everything you do starts with you, so make it happen.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

To fund a business, you have to take risk. I work in the medical field as well as work on my brand on schedule days. Each investment I got was from my other business assets , which helped invest in my vision. It takes money to make a difference and with each dollar I invested into myself and my aspirations

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

Every business will has its ups and downs. You have to celebrate accomplishment and with each accomplishment you have to prepare for the slow days as well. When those days come, do not doubt yourself. You are your biggest fan. You have to lift yourself up. Focus on the good, not the flaws.
