We were lucky to catch up with Roz Manley recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Roz thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
People always told me I had a story to tell. They loved reading my post, notes and random videos I would do. I would get so much feedback. What they didn’t know was that it was a part of my therapy. I quickly realized that helping others deal with things was also helping and healing myself. I had a plan all figured out but then so much unexpected tragedy happened. My mom died in Oct 2019. In May of 2019 I came out to the public about my mental health struggles and pursuing my dreams in writing, blogging and having a show of my own. All of that took a back seat as I had to learn how to grieve in a healthy way.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a survivor of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. I volunteer countless hours in helping to educate and eradicate abuse. I serve on The Board of Directors for Center For Abused Persons in Charles County. This organization has been in the county for over 40 years. I have sat with many victims in the courthouse helping them to complete paperwork for their safety. I have been a listening ear and motivation to many. I have dealt with anxiety, depression and PTSD most of my life but I hid behind my big smile and bubbly personality. The Run Down With Roz launched May 1st and my goal is to use my platform to expose the ugly truths. I will be transparent, raw , emotional and more as I help my community heal.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
One of my biggest goals is never to hear again “what goes on in this household stays in this household “. If something is hurting you I want us to be comfortable talking about it and getting help. It’s okay not to be okay and there is no shame in seeking help. We all need help at times.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Beaten, stomped, touched, unconscious and left for dead was my early life. I smiled through it all. I graduated from high school and no one saw my scars. I help others deal with their pain while hiding my own. My silence became so loud that I went into a deep depression. I shut down, pushed people away and was content with it all but GOD had another plan for my life. A plan that I am now living.
