Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Royce Morgan . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Royce, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
Yes, a lot of times I’m categorized as a Social Media Celebrity, a Comedian, etc. At this point I just let people call me what they want, but aside from Social Media I do a host of jobs like hosting events, radio, print modeling, panel discussions, etc and they’ve all earned me pay and amazing opportunities. I’ve learned to let people call you what they want because at least they know your name and I’m not missing out on what’s for me! I like to think of it as the power of being and knowing yourself!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started in this journey doing the whole acting/modeling thing with show business aspirations! Around 2014 the Social Media world started to open up from me sharing inspiration and just liking to make people laugh, then around 2017 I went through a storm and was diagnosed with depression/anxiety and really felt trapped and became transparent with my struggles and that’s when a whole new world opened for me. It was a time I wasn’t looked to be known, seen, rich or famous but just being REAL. I dealt with that and from that came amazing opportunity in radio, hosting, speaking engagements and just letting people know it’s okay not to be okay, but having faith and patience to get to the other side.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I call it The Power Of Being Yourself! No matter how weird you may feel you seem, or scared of “what will they think” you never know who is going through what or who feels seen by your sharing yourself unapologetically. Rewards are nice, but the freedom that comes with sharing yourself can open up a world you never knew existed and a you you’ve never met before!

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I had gotten over the “What will they think?” and wanting to be “liked” or cool, but I guess I wouldn’t have had places to grow from in life, I would tell anyone it’s okay to just be you and who is meant to love you will and those who don’t… FORGET THEM FOLKS! I actually started a whole movement about it, follow me on @theroycemorgan on IG for further details!
