We recently connected with Royal Lee and have shared our conversation below.
Royal, appreciate you joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
I began researching natural skin rejuvenation products and herbs that provide the best benefits. I spent a few weeks mastering four fragrances and began working on packaging. It became immediately clear that I had something after passing out free samples. Market! Market! Market! was all I could think. Doing things right takes times. It was time to make a decision weather to be an actual business or a hustle. Hustles never last businesses create the opportunity to thrive. I took time to plan out the future of PLUM with realistic expectations. Currently expectations have been exceeded and new goals have to be set. In the meantime we’re taking it one jar at a time.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m naturally inclined to observe and listen. I’ve found in my life that trait has given me the ability to hear God’s responses. Now doing the right thing all the time that’s another story. years ago my Grandfather would sell shea butter, DVDs and the whole nine. Some people laughed but a lot of them made purchases. Seeing him go from that to opening his appliance store it inspired me to take control of my life. The Idea began as selling shea butter for an additional source of income though I knew that I wanted to do something more than sell a product. My life is driven by purpose, which gave me the inspiration for PLUM as an acronym meaning; A Purposeful Life is guided through
Understanding and Meaning.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
As the elder sibling its in my nature to take care of everyone. In life you find that success its hard to obtain. Investment cost, time invested, trial and error, it takes some separation if you want to accomplish your goals.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I work as an HVAC Technician there plenty of opportunity in GA. I work with real estate companies hourly which provides the capital needed to fund start up cost.
