Alright, Roxy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?

I have always known that I possess a natural intuition, wild imagination, and a keen eye for creativity. It was clear to me that my passion lay in making people feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. Becoming an empathic hairstylist wasn’t an easy feat; it required a combination of passion, talent, dedication, and business acumen.

Within the last few years, I came to realize that my role went beyond just creating beautiful hairstyles; it was about providing my clients with a unique and holistic experience. Drawing upon my intuitive abilities, I found that I could offer something truly special. I began incorporating elements of mediumship into my services, providing clients with not only stunning hair but also intuitive insights and guidance if they chose to experience one of my specialized packages. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where clients can relax, release stress, and reconnect with themselves on a deeper level. By providing this unique blend of hair styling and spiritual guidance, I aim to leave each person who sits in my chair not only looking great but feeling uplifted, empowered, and ready to face the world with renewed energy and positivity.

I always dreamed of being a hairstylist, and having my son at age 17 only fueled that dream even more, as I now had someone else to provide for. I went to a local hair school at the age of 19 and gained my certification, did a 2-year apprenticeship in a salon, and got my license. The first five years in the industry were a whirlwind of education, training, and growth. I dedicated myself to honing my skills, building a portfolio, and gaining experience while navigating the complexities of the beauty industry. Despite the challenges of a toxic hustle culture, I found my stride, booking clients four weeks out and thriving with a five-figure income. However, the long hours and late nights took their toll, and by the time I was 28, I leaped to become a sole proprietor. Opening a small shop with another stylist seemed like the next logical step toward my vision. Unfortunately, two years later, the partnership turned sour as I found myself entangled with a narcissist, leading to a crash-and-burn scenario that tested my resilience and determination.

I spent the next 5 years renting a chair in a local spa, this allowed me time to heal after the hardship and trauma I endured after losing my father and leaving a toxic work environment. A year ago, I took a leap and opened my own salon suite. It was a chance for me to rebrand myself as the Psychic Medium Hairstylist and truly align with my soul path. Today, Roxy’s Creations Holistic Healing Hair Shoppe is a unique space where hair and holistic healing blend together seamlessly. I use clean products and incorporate tools like crystals, essential oils, frequency music, and energy healing to create a soul-level experience that leaves clients feeling connected and inspired.

The relationship between hairstylist and client is a beautiful and unique one. We watch each other grow both personally and professionally, we experience highs and lows, milestones and heartbreaks, forming trusting relationships. Hair carries deep spiritual significance, symbolizing identity, personal power, and vitality. It’s connected to our emotions, past self, and higher self. For many women, hair is a security blanket, a key to confidence, and sometimes something to hide behind. But we can let go of the past and embrace change. That 1-inch trim can make us feel lighter and free. Our crown chakra is our connection to the source, and when open, it allows us to manifest our dreams, deepen our intuition, and connect with faith, divine wisdom, and enlightenment. Have you ever had to pivot?

The turning point in my life came in 2018 when I lost my father to cancer. His death left me shattered, and I realized that I needed to work on myself to heal. I started exploring the connection between my mind, body, and soul, and delved into my past traumas to understand my self-worth. The journey of self-discovery was not easy; it was murky and dark, but it helped me heal. I studied herbalism, clinical aromatherapy, crystal healing, chakras, meridians, the nervous system, and akashic records, which helped me reawaken my intuition and connect with my ancestors and guides. I started applying holistic approaches to my healing process. In 2022, I launched my online crystal store, inspired by my personal journey. My grief collection was the first, followed by the mama collection inspired by a client who sits in my hair chair. I made her custom crystal bracelets for every hurdle she faced during her pregnancy. The pandemic inspired me to create custom tumble kits and the anxiety collection. The business grew beyond my wildest dreams, and I started offering crystal therapy, akashic records readings, energy clearings, and psychic sessions. My online community receives weekly crystal education, energy updates, moon cycle energy tips, journal prompts, and all my online offers. In 2023, I opened my first physical location, Roxy’s Creations Holistic Healing Hair Shoppe, to serve my community.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

My mission is to ignite the spark of spiritual awakening within others and guide them on a transformative journey of healing and self-discovery. Awakening intuition is a profound experience that unlocks the door to inner knowing and connects us with our true essence, allowing us to live authentically aligned with our soul’s purpose. I believe that understanding the energetic nature of the universe empowers us to develop our innate abilities and tap into the limitless potential within us. Through my educational content and guidance, I aim to support spiritual newcomers in navigating the initial stages of awareness, intuition, healing the inner child, and connecting with their higher selves. I want people to see their bodies as intricate, intelligent systems capable of self-regulation and deep healing when all aspects—physical, mental, emotional, and energetic—are in harmony. By trusting our feelings, practicing gratitude, and embracing joy, we unleash our creativity and pave the way for prosperity in all areas of our lives.
