Roxy Cruz , appreciate you joining us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?

Our first customer came to us during the early stages of rebuilding and preparing our rental space. Angel’s genuine conversation with a local shop owner, shared without expectation, sparked an unexpected partnership built on trust and belief in our vision. Despite having no equipment or supplies at the time, that owner became our first loyal customer and continues to support our journey today. We proudly framed our first check as a lasting reminder that faith, authenticity, and perseverance lay the foundation for success.

At PrinthinkSD, creativity is action. Founded in 2022 by Roxy Cruz and Angel Flores, a proud Mexican-owned and LGBTQ-owned small business, we took a leap of faith to build a place where ideas thrive and quality meets purpose. From screen printing and professional uniforms to banners, flags, and promotional products, we turn visions into tangible, lasting impact.

More than a shop, PrinthinkSD is a hub for growth, learning, and empowerment. We share our expertise, mentor those eager to learn, and create an environment where passion fuels possibility. Now in our third year and thriving, we’re gearing up for 2026 with big plans — ready to expand, innovate, and keep helping people bring their visions to life.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.

Angel and I came from the same industry but very different paths. Angel, a Graphic Design graduate, spent years refining his craft under the mentorship of industry leaders. A pivotal moment in his career came when he had the opportunity to work alongside Gama, inspiring him to envision a space where he could grow and fully explore his artistic potential.

I began my journey as an embroiderer, unaware of how far this path could take me. While I balance two careers, this one fuels my creativity, sharpens my focus, and fosters personal growth.

We met at the same job and connected through conversations about our dreams and the future we wanted to build. Despite the uncertainty, we took a leap of faith together, trusting in our vision and each other. Neither of us came from a business background, but this experience has been both challenging and profoundly rewarding, continually reminding us of our individual strengths and the power of collaboration.

Today, as we thrive in our third year of business, we carry forward that courage and commitment, ready to embrace the opportunities and growth that lie ahead.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?

The foundation of great leadership is patience and emotional awareness. Owning and running a business can be intimidating—there will be moments of doubt, stress, and uncertainty—but it is never impossible. Every decision you make, every action you take, and every emotion you show creates a ripple effect throughout your team. Your attitude sets the tone for the culture, the energy, and the level of success everyone around you can achieve.

Balancing work with personal life is not just a luxury—it’s a necessity. When you manage your emotions and lead with clarity, you create an environment where your team feels safe, motivated, and inspired to give their best.
