We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Roxana Popescu a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Roxana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?

To become successful I think the most important thing is to believe in the goals you want to reach. The confidence in you is the key in any successful role. You also have to believe in your dreams, to desire them and over trying in case you failed. I remember myself back in 2014 I was dreaming for a job that was having nothing to do with my reality I was living in and I try for that job twenty months until I got it. In all this process I was alone, my financial status was very low, there was no English skills as I’m European and my mother language is not English, no friends or close friends in the role I was dreaming for so I started from zero in totally, and to be honest in all this process all you need it’s just yourself, your believes and confidence just to keep your mind well set in your goal until the end no matter how long it takes.+

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

About myself it’s really a lot to talk about, I am a very informative, confident, trustful Port Lecturer / Destination Specialist / Virtual Cruise Planner / Cruise Consultant but of course still as much as you do what you love as more you want to became better and better, there is always something to learn. I had the incredible opportunity to work in Cruise Industry in Shore Excursions /Shore Exploration / Shore Expeditions Department where I interact directly with over 85 Nationalities and travel the world.
I step into 5 Continents, over 120 Countries and way more than 310 cities. It’s been the most incredible journey of my life and keeps on counting. I’m very grateful and I thank God every day.
Everything started right after collage, I ve became so curious to learn about Psychology of Ages so I decided to study University of Phycology and get licensed in, after that I study Master in Management and Business Administration and overall it helped me a lot in my development. In the same time I was working a full time job to a massive local Television Group ( a variety of office jobs/ projects assigned). After I degree the master I win a local competition and the price was to Jump with a Parachute from 5 k, So I did it and it was the most excited experience I had at that time. I felt so happy, so full, so confident it was something so unique in my life at that time. So I decided to try International Jobs. I tried for 20 months. I had 467 online applications. I went to open days interviews to UK, Ukraine and different cities from my home country. I m origin from Romania, Bucharest.
After 20 months I was accepted to a largest US Corporation in Cruise Industry in the best ever job of Shore Exploration/ Shore Expedition Office.
When I left my home country and work abroad I discovered and learned from each culture how beautiful and different this world it is, I went to way so many cultural rituals and traditions and overall was just impressive experience.
I’m also so attached to animals, birds, wildlife photography, and wildlife nature so certain destinations touched me; there are experiences that can’t be put it into words.
Nowadays I love helping people finding their best itineraries for their dream cruise vacation as I’m so familiar with so many destinations, top must do’s excursions, expeditions, highlights that are a must to be see it or Experience it and not only just talking about each destination beauty it something that make me happy. I love encouraging people to travel or to find what makes them happy and work for their life goals.
I consider myself very trustful person and I encourage everybody I meet to get out of their comfort zone and believe in their dreams, of course try to work little by little in achievements of your dream.
I dreamed to become a Shore expedition / Guide / Cruise Consultant / Travel Influencer / Excursions To Go Speaker and I applied for 20 months for this dream job of Shore Excursions Department in Cruise Industry back in the days, I mean few years ago. I had 467 applications, two notebooks packed with daily interviews. In one point I thought I’m doing a school of interviews (questions, exams, tips, goals).
I don’t think are many people that went through such an intense process. I find myself so ambitious and focused when it comes to a goal I want to reach and that’s the message I want to deliver, everybody can achieve anything in this life. It’s all about mind set. At that time I was so bad financially my status was very low, extremely bad and still I make it. It’s only time and perseverance.
In my free time I love practicing or teaching people Ice Skating, Rollerskating ( I m a Racing Speed Skater), I love extreme sports, racing cars or live events, concerts, I m quite active and I talk a lot daily basis :)
I don’t own a brand or travel agency, I’m working on all my social media profiles to end up in the same niche of Excursions to Go / Local Exploration /Best of and I’m hoping to be able to get connected with people in same direction or people that need information’s in making their vacation incredible.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

y content is real, not to the best quality done it but it’s real, prove it, I have many people just approaching me to say hi or checking on me just because they felt inspired by me or they are admiring me. I’m also very popular I don t have differences when it comes to people at any level. I have friendly feedback or I look approachable, I’m less criticized. I usually help as much as I can, I offer all my inspiration resources, definitely I m looking into helping.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The best and most reward for myself is that I have random people from all over the world, returning to thank for their memorable vacation that follow my travel tips or suggestions or just because I could inspired them positively.
