We were lucky to catch up with Roxana Cordero recently and have shared our conversation below.
Roxana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My name is Roxana Cordero and I am the founder and CEO of The Add-Ons Box brand. Our company was founded during a time of change in my personal life. When I became a mother, I made the brave decision to be a full-time mom to Anabella and Lucía. It was at that stage of evolution, where I embraced this new life and embarked on the adventure of becoming my own boss. With a background in high-end retail, a degree in public relations, and a passion for fashion, I created my brand The Add-Ons Box. Add-Ons Box is the perfect bundle of accessories you can add to any outfit for every season and person. Motivated by my story, I created this product to connect with other women, build community and empower each other through stories and fashion. More than a pack of accessories, The Add-Ons Box is an opportunity to connect, shine and be the best version of yourself.

Roxana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
The Add-Ons Box our brand stands out from the rest by being innovative, creative and purposeful. When I started this business path I never imagined achieving what my eyes are seeing today. It is not only about creating a need in our customers with our product, but about adding value to it. The Add-Ons Box is not just a monthly box of women’s accessories, it is a company created to motivate and inspire other women or mothers like me to fight for their dreams and goals. When I decided to give up on my regular hourly job to take care of my daughters full time, at some point I felt without direction, lost. When I managed to surround myself with people who saw potential in me, I decided to launch myself and start the adventure of creating a brand from scratch. Today The ADD-ONS BOX has a beautiful community of clients and women who share our same vision and mission. I am happy to be able to represent our Hispanic and Latino community here in Central Florida.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When I started my brand The Add-Ons Box I depended 100% on social media since we didn’t have an online store. To always keep connecting with my followers or potential customers, the key was to be consistent and humanize my brand. When I started to tell my story and how our brand was created, many people identified. This is how I positioned myself on the different platforms. Building a strong social media community won’t always depend on your followers or likes. It goes further, it is to create a unique connection with your followers and that the content gives them value. Being able to use social media nowadays opens the way to exposure, but my biggest advice is to always keep your business integrity and the values that represent you always as a priority.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
When I decided to undertake, I did not have the capital. I wanted to start my business with my own money without having to resort to the help of my husband, who would have helped me unconditionally. It was more than a personal goal, I wanted to show that I could achieve it on my own merits. I bet on myself and decided to use my only credit card. It was the best $4,000 invested, I did not let my fears stop me, I fully trusted God and the process. I knew everything would be fine. Many times we stop because we only think about the initial capital and we get frustrated. Don’t let those fears rob you of your desire to succeed, keep working quietly and trusting that your business will be a successful one.
