We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Roxan Krueger. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Roxan below.
Alright, Roxan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
When I started my bussiness I was doing my full time 8 to 5 job. My bussiness was more of a weekend hobby. As I was progressing, I started losing sleep to catch up on my busssiness orders. I work 7 days a week and will have 4 hours of sleep on regular basis. I took the risk of giving up my full time job to establish and focus more on my bussiness. So far, it has been good, I have goals and working hard to it so I don’t regret choosing my passion over my full time job.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Roxan. I’m originally from the Philippines. I migrated in the US 9 years ago. It was a little bit challenging to start a bussiness as my circle is not as big, but I’m equipped with my experience and education to start with.
The idea of Sola wood flower bussiness started when I got engaged. I was looking for an alternative to real flowers because one, they’re too expensive, two, they’re too fragile for me and lastly, I have allergies. I didn’t want to go on silk and foam flowers as it feels very fake and its hard to customize their color, until I discovered sola wood flowers which are more eco friendly and very much customizable.
I started posting my work on social media, and one vendor from the wedding industry convinced me to post them on bridal groups, and all is history.
Customer service is my priority. I’m very personable and I always listen to my customers. It’s your special event, you’re the boss, I’m just here to put your vision to reality.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Word of mouth and referrals are one of the best strategies for growing our clientele. To get referrals and great reviews, I always make sure that we treat each and every customers as VIPs. Me and my admin assistant, Alex are very prompt on responding on any inquiries and we make sure all questions and messages are being answered real time.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I started joining bridal groups from facebook as they’re my target market. I did some collaborations with other vendors that cater the same audience. I followed most accounts on Instagram that does the same thing as I do or atleast offer the same service to get more ideas ans to help each other.
