We were lucky to catch up with Rosy Muto recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Rosy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Everyone has crazy stuff happen to them, but often small business owners and creatives, artists and others who are doing something off the beaten path are often hit with things (positive or negative) that are so out there, so unpredictable and unexpected. Can you share a crazy story from your journey?
I’m in the creative/fashion industry from when I was younger. For starters I was born in the fashion capital of the world Italy. From there my parents migrated to the U.S over half a century ago in an ambitious entrepreneurial pursuit to create their businesses that are now celebrating 45 years of success. Growing up we were taught how important our work ethics were and to stay consistent. After high school I moved to Cherry Hill, NJ and worked 3 jobs as a restaurant manager, visual merchandiser manager and on the side I got paid for consulting on ideas and style. I was offered a position at Forever21 but given the circumstances at the time I deemed it more feasible to consider a position at Armani Exchange as a key holder. However, my passion was geared towards visuals so I had to prove myself. We were having a corporate visit before our grand opening and working the grave yard shifts I began creatively merchandising the shipment rather than placing the product in its spot. My store manager noticed and recommended me to corporate to do visuals. I blossomed from there.
After 2 years in Cherry Hill my roommate and I began to have disagreements and I decided it was best to leave. I lived in my car for over a month under the Collingswood train station where I would park by the lights for protection. One night I had met the MySpace crew and my life changed. They invited me to live in California and brainstorm ideas. I jumped on the opportunity, restructured my finances to move to LA which was a daunting challenge. I started working on sunset plaza then made my way to Rodeo drive. After a few years working corporate retail I decided to utilize my creative skills to start my own agency.
In 2009 I landed my first client with Ludacris, then celebrity styling/consulting started to boom working with notable names like 50 cent, Mayra Veronica, Miley Cyrus, Dr Dre, as well as companies like Warner Bothers, Viacom, Sony, and others.
After some times I approached by LA Fashion Week to co-producer the first official fashion week. From there I became an executive director producing fashion weeks in LA, NY, Miami and traveled to Milan as a fashion editor. After 8 years of this covid had a huge impact on the event / production industry which ultimately resulted in making another come back. I took the styling/consulting/production agency and turned it into an all inclusive think tank for startups, corporations and anyone that needed creative and digital services. My parents always taught me to work smart not hard and having icons in the U.S like Elon Musk and quotes “People should pursue what they’re passionate about. That will make them happier than pretty much anything else.”
So now JRpros creative agency builds and produces not only events, styling and caters to the fashion industry but also partnered with Avantscape which is an animation and graphics studio. We developed custom websites for major developers in Boca Raton as well as gourmet market shops, marketing/consulting for restaurants, create creative content by providing photoshoots, copywriters, visuals with themes, provide social media strategy. We also offer custom enterprise-grade web and mobile applications to a range of industries such as real-estate, automotive etc. In conclusion I basically took all the emotions and directed them into helping others thrive and succeed.
Rosy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am mostly proud of the team and the way we can work together to build something from nothing. We are approached by clients who have an idea but have no clue how to get started. We help create the visuals by being great listeners. For any company or startup its hard to stay in momentum. Just like anything else a personal trainer is there to push you to your fullest potential. JRpros powers your ideas no matter how unrealistic or creative they may be, we find ways to bring it to life.
We offer all the services a business would need to grow and market themselves. From custom webdesign and branding to animation and rendering, we assist with creative strategy and expertise that sets you apart. Our offering includes websites that start from a UI sketch to the finished product, web and mobile application, digital and social media management, advanced 3d animation and renderings. We still offer event planning, photoshoots with our in house makeup artist and videographer for all PR / content creation needs. Overall we are the ultimate one stop shop for creative services.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I hired Avantscape to work with me on a project and from that day on we partnered ever since.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part is what other people have to say about us. =)
