We recently connected with Rosy L. and have shared our conversation below.
Rosy , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Since the age of 7, I always knew I wanted to become a singer-songwriter. Back in my home country, Laos, I always loved to sing and create random songs. I remember recording songs on my dad’s computer and burning them onto CDs with my sister. I would make random music videos around the house with my sister. When I was 15-16 years old, I started posting Youtube videos of me singing songs I like. My passion for music has always been so strong; however, pursuing it professionally has never felt possible for me. I hit my lowest point in 2020, and music is what saved me. The year 2020 was when I decided to pursue my music career professionally, and it has been the wildest and funnest ride.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am an independent singer-songwriter from Laos, but I am now based in Dallas, TX. I have always believed that music can heal others like how it healed me at my lowest times. This mindset has inspired me to write songs that are based on mental health, self-growth, and self-love. What sets me apart from others is that I also love sharing my Lao culture with my audience. I do this by incorporating Lao lyrics into my songs. What I am the most proud of is my ability to be vulnerable with my songwriting because it is not easy to be vulnerable.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an Artist is when my song speaks to someone. My goal is to connect my music to as many people in this world. It truly fills my heart when my listeners let me know that my song had an impact on them.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The best way to support artists, creatives, and a thriving creative ecosystem today is to help share our work on Social Media. A simple comment, share, and repost on social media really goes a long way. As an Artist myself, it already makes me happy if someone just take 15 seconds in their day to listen to my music. Another way to best support artists and creatives is going to their shows, and buying their art.
