We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rossa Skywalka. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rossa below.
Rossa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
I learned from the perfect example trail and error. I just tried whatever I felt like could get people’s attention and minds. If I had a bigger income than what I had when I started I would have been more invested cause the money is there.
As far as obstacles coming from a poverty stricken area and not a lot of resources it was tough for me but I did what I could.
Rossa, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Rossa Skywalka I’m a professional music artist and I’m from Edison Georgia. I been doing music for 22 years but I been doing it professionally since 2018. I got into music at 7 years old watching 106 & Park seeing people like Bow Wow Romeo and other young artists in the industry made me want to get involved. I wrote my first song in second grade not knowing how to structure my writing I just could read my lyrics. As I got older I learned about bars and structuring lines I got better at writing and understanding the dynamics of music. From there I went to the studio and recorded my first song to understand sound and the way you make music stand out. Overall I been doing music for 22 years I been doing it professionally for 5 years now.
I got into the business once I started uploading all my videos and albums to YouTube and the streaming platforms.
I am very consistent because in the independent market you have to be active to get noticed. That’s one of the main reasons I’m different from others. I’m always writing and recording and working 24/7 to create the best music possible. I want all my potential fans to know that they will never be bored with me.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I would have to say freedom and money. Just being able to be true to myself and write my thoughts and feelings how I really intrepid reality. To make money telling people about my life is amazing to me.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I didn’t have a large amount of followers at first. I would add people to my social networks to get started. Then I found free music sites like audiomack datpiff spinrilla sound cloud and reverb nation from there I uploaded music there at least once a week and I would just share my links to my music until I gained more followers my advice to anyone just starting to stay active and consistent.
