Ross , appreciate you joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
Neither. Opportunities manifest when we position ourselves to move to the next level. Before starting my business Williams Commerce Writing Services, I made a commitment to myself that I would follow the signs life gives me and not position myself in places where I’m unfulfilled and unhappy. I was unfulfilled and unhappy in my previous career, which consisted of being an operations manager at a hospital and a manager at several other Fortune 500 companies. I got so caught up attaining the life others wanted for me that I lost touch with my deepest desires. Helping others has been rooted in my mindset since helping my dad do landscape and construction work in the New Orleans heat since the age of 6. From that age, I knew my passion was helping others and writing, but I never saw it as a career until I got the signs to use it as my tool to help as many people as possible.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I am the author of Made It Out and Crabs In A Barrel and owner of Williams Commerce Writing Services. There are three branches of my business that helps my company empower authors, job seekers, and business owners. For authors, we have publishing, editing, ghostwriting, and consulting services. Although the publishing aspect of my company has propelled everything to another level, writing resumes and business plans have always been at the foundation of what we do.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Seeing transactions as opportunities for empowerment and going the extra mile with customer service. When you read customer reviews for other companies, most positive ones say, “They did a great job, etc.” Our customer reviews usually go into detail about how our services were impactful.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Doubling down on customer service and providing value. Rave reviews from clients work 20 times better than any ad.
