Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rosina Nappier. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rosina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I have always been a very creative person . I can remember when my parents bought me my first camera. I was always the person taking videos and photos of my friends and what we were doing. In about 2017 I noticed more and more influencers coming of age. I thought that would be perfect for me, so I just started sharing my interests, like skin care, fashion, things around the home. And it just kind of blossomed from there. On this road there has been a lot of accomplishments but also stress. I remember the first time I was fired from a job because they didn’t exactly like the Content I created, and wouldn’t even give me a chance to redo it. It was so disheartening for a while. I felt like everything I did wasn’t good enough. I started to feel like I could succeed when I got this message from a woman who said I was an inspiration to her, that she always felt uncomfortable with her body, she started to feel like she could show herself, seeing how I put myself out there. That really touched me. It just changed everything for me.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a creative, Curvy dog mom, and fiancé. I got into this industry from simply sharing my life on social media. I have been sharing lots of things from fashion to recipes. I love to do recipe videos, or DIY garden tips. When brands approach me, they always say how they love my unique perspective on what I’m sharing. You don’t see a lot of plus size women getting some of the jobs that I have. I am most proud of being able to pay my bills from doing what I love. I put a lot of thought into any collaboration I am doing. I always want to see what other people have done and try to do it differently. I especially love sharing Rummy my furbaby in random campaigns you wouldn’t think he would be in. I am currently trying to do more local projects. I would love to share some of the places, me and my fiancé love to eat at or local shops that I get stuff for Rummy from.
How did you build your audience on social media?
When I first started Content creating, I was in a very low place. I was trying to come out of a depression because my body had changed so drastically. All of a sudden I was way heavier, and it was very noticeable.. and I thought maybe if I just start sharing where I shop and what looks good on my body type, it would help me feel more confident. There has been a lot of people who have been very negative on this path, but even more who have lifted me and made me feel comfortable in my skin. My advice would be find what you’re passionate about, what your niche would be but don’t limit yourself you don’t have to stay in one box.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
When I started, I had no idea there were platforms or apps, and sites you could apply to to get campaigns. After about a year of just sharing myself, I joined a group of bloggers on IG as sort of a advice and engagement group. They showed me what apps or sites they were using and it just opened up a whole new world for me. Never be afraid to ask for help there hasn’t been so many things I had no idea how to do, or which angle to shoot from. It is extremely helpful to talk to people doing the same things you are. I feel like there’s room for everybody, you can’t judge someone else from what you’re seeing on social media.
