We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rosemary Tucker. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rosemary below.
Alright, Rosemary thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
As a multi-faceted entrepreneur and innovator, Rosemary was moved in 2019 to create Hoodies 4 Healing Foundation, Inc. (501c-3), a modern brand that went viral and assisted in saving her daughter Dyanna DeNae’s life. By raising over $60K through hoodie sells from various supporters near and far, Dyanna DeNae was granted the opportunity to have the necessary procedure to remove a life-threatening cyst in her brain. Rosemary made a heartfelt promise to God that after her daughter’s successful surgery she would dedicate her life every day positioning herself to be a blessing to others. Each week, Hoodies 4 Healing Foundation commits to paying it forward in the community. Shortly after the news of her daughter’s progress, Rosemary found herself helping those beyond Houston, Texas. The fashionista and philanthropist strongly believe God has strategically placed her children, volunteers and herself within a profound purpose to be able to give back.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m the proud owner of Blessties USA and founder of Hoodies 4 Healing Foundation, Inc. Before I started my mission of helping others through my passion for philanthropy, I attended school at St. Phillips College in San Antonio where I obtained my Nursing Degree. After much contemplation, I decided to pursue a different career path and relocate to Houston in 1995. New to Houston, I obtained my first job at Down Low Promotions where I was able to work with entertainment legends and icons such as Patti LaBelle, Cedric the Entertainer, Bernie Mac, and D.L. Hughley just to name a few. After gaining insight in the industry, I decided to step out on faith and form my own promotions company called Tucker Entertainment. After deciding on another career change, I took an incredible opportunity to work for Houston’s own d-mars.com and excelled into a booming real estate career for over 20 years.
On every Sunday, my Hoodies 4 Healing team and volunteers look forward to feeding the homeless. We have given away thousands of hoodies and served over 30,000 of God’s children. My team and I has never missed a Sunday since November 2020.
We are currently holding a ‘Sustainable Recycling’ Cloth/Textile Drive where our supporters and those who are interested in giving their gently-used clothing to a great cause with the outstanding Phill The Box- Houston Team. On average it cost over $2,000 a week to feed the homeless and we are looking for cost-free and effective ways to generate funding for this amazing initiative.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My supporters are amazing and I’m always looking forward to meeting other outstanding individuals in the community. The spirit of growth is present on social media. You have to stay consistent, I post very frequently, it’s how I stay relevant and continue to create various innovative ideas for my brand.
Have you ever had to pivot?
When my daughter Dyanna Denae was diagnosed with a rare cyst on the back of her brain and I need to raise funds so she can have the life-saving surgery. I prayed powerful prayers and found myself so selfless and not afraid to ask for assistance. Stepping out on faith for me looked a little different because this was my daughter we are talking about. I’d do anything to keep her here, alive, healthy and well. 2019 was a life-changing year and we were able to raise over $65K because of God and the community. I had to encourage her, I had to be strong for her. I made a promise to God to always do something to praise him and to never forget his glory in saving my daughter. I vowed to God to help his children, the people of the world, in the way he helped save my daughter.
