We were lucky to catch up with Rosemary Onyeka recently and have shared our conversation below.
Rosemary, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I’ve always wanted to create a safe space for black women all around the world and that’s why I created the channel ‘That black style’ and also created merch for the channel meant specifically for black women because I feel like we needed something to call our own
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Rosemary and I’m a pharmacist and also a YouTube blogger for black women content, I got into YouTube because I wanted to create a channel for black women, I upload funny and motivating content about black women and also provide a platform for ‘girl talks’, all I want my subscribers to know is that this brand I created is for them and I’m really happy about it
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to become a very big channel and become a stronger voice for black women everywhere
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience from 0-100,000 subscribers in a year because I was consistent and motivated to do it
