Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rosemari Johnson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rosemari , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Our mission here at The Rose Garden Waxing Studio is simple. I want with each and every client to come into a clean and aesthetically pleasing suite, relax and enjoy your service of choice and then leave feeling like you just had a convo with your favorite cousin. I strive to build relationships with my clients and that makes each appointment unique. Naturally, I’m talkative so that makes our sessions standout because we discuss anything and everything from work, kids, vacations and events around the city. Even with new clientele, I take the time to get to know them and remember a key detail so when they come back we have something to talk about. From my Google reviews, I can tell they love the openness and no judgment zone here at TRG.
Rosemari , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Honestly, I can’t stress enough about following your heart and never giving up. I knew I wanted to be in the beauty field almost 12 years ago and finally decided it was time in 2020. I inquired at a local beauty school and needed my transcript from college, continued working my job and got caught up in paying bills. Ultimately putting my dreams on hold to be a wife and mother. Once my daughter became a senior and Started her cosmetology journey, we had hopes of opening salon suites together to service the beauty industry. Once I got laid off due to Covid-19 I had no reason not to start. The rest is history and I am now The Rose Garden waxing studio of Pearland, Tx with all 5 star reviews on google. I hope to see you soon!
Have you ever had to pivot?
I stepped out on faith after finishing esthetics school and only working for 6 months at a franchise to gain experience. While in school I worked on my business plan, looked at several salon suites and knew exactly how I wanted to run my business. Along with the logistics, I also priced products and marketing tools to grow my business. When the time came I thought I was ready but in life their are unexpected challenges. My location in Sugarland was aesthetically pleasing and in a great location but had several other estheticians in my building already and I didn’t get any walk ins within the year I was there. To be honest, I had thoughts of closing down and going back into a franchise but I prayed about and gave it to GOD. Decided on moving into another suite in the newly developed suburb Pearland, TX and that was the pivot that helped motivate me to keep the doors open. Business has been amazing!! My existing clients continue to pre-book their appointments and new clients keep coming.
Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
Marketing is tricky and in this era everyone believes that Instagram is all you have to do but I’m here to tell you have stay active on all platforms. From Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and anything else that becomes popular. Google has been my bestfriend with gaining new clients. Actually having clients complete the Google review and following up on each and every review has helped tremendously. I’ve paid for ads in the school theatre pamphlet just to let everyone know I’m new to the area. Let’s not forget boosting ads on my Facebook account and client referrals are the tools that continue to grow TRG.
