We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rosella Lucherino a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rosella, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I was probably 19 or 20, and I had already started a career in engineering. After a couple of years of numbers and letters, and always some little drawing or illustration on the same pages, mixed with mathematical equations, I realized that I was not happy. So I decided to quit engineering and start Graphic Design. Years later I also got a degree in Advertising, and finally when I came to the US I graduated also from Media Arts and Animation.
Rosella, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am going to be very honest and use sentences from my resume because it is pretty much the answer to this question.
I am Ro:
As a Designer, I create visual concepts, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform or captivate the viewer. I will help you as a client, achieve your goal in your business.
I also develop the overall layout and production design for ads, brochures, magazines, corporate reports, social media mediums such as Facebook and Instagram, web ads, printed and digital. In addition, I use technology to make my artwork come alive utilizing computer software to create short gif animations and website graphics.
I am a skilled and proactive artist with an extensive Art & Graphic Design background. I can quickly learn programs effectively and efficiently. I enjoy working in a team environment. As an individual, I am reliable and willing to adapt to a constantly changing work environment. I have strong communication skills and work ethic. I want to be responsible for creating and designing logos, user interfaces, presentations, web banners and print pieces, retouching, matte paintings, and concept designs. I can work directly and/or complement the design from the development team.
I have experience in video editing, some basic visual effects, and user interface layouts. I can create short animations/gif animations.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
It is a personal reward, not really an economical one. Don’t get me wrong, it is nice when a piece gets sold out, but the simple fact of putting some energy and creativity into some drawing or illustration and then just seeing how far you each accomplish that is very rewarding for me.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
There are two: Mutant Message Down Under – Marlo Morgan
and Las Enseñanzas de Don Juan – Carlos Castaneda
