We were lucky to catch up with Roseanne “Roe” Galati recently and have shared our conversation below.
Roseanne “Roe”, appreciate you joining us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
While having a background of several years in customer service-oriented positions I was able to use those skills to drill down on what I really felt this industry was missing and that was connections. The raw relationships that you build with clients is the best part of my job. Knowing what my customers’ kids are up to, hearing about family vacations as well as trials and tribulations in their lives is the essence of my love for my job. It is the best part. They know I am going to take care of them because I am personally invested in them.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The Charleston market is heavily flooded with both new construction and businesses that have been around forever. Working with general contractors, developers and management teams in this area gives me a rare opportunity to work with many former collogues. As I said before working in the apartment industry for 13 years and being active and on the Board of the Charleston Apartment Association gave me the opportunity to build relationships with so many amazing and hardworking people that I built life long relationships with. My ability to form and maintain relationships with so many of these folks is what has kept them coming back to me for years. Since the multi-family industry is one of my biggest clients I feel strongly that current customers who know me from that line of work feel confident that I know what they need. While new customers who I share my background with are able to allow me the opportunity to provide me with their trust that I k now what they need from my previous career experience.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Referrals, referrals, and referrals! My company is built on absolutely no marketing. Every client I have has either been a client forever, has become a client through my old career or was referred to me through an existing client. On so many occasions marketing firms have reached out to me to offer their services and I fully believe that you should be able to sell yourself.
My industry is not typically a “one time” purchase model, we provide a service and products that clients come back to us time after time and that is what I feel makes what we do so special.
