Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rose Kreider. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rose , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Hi everyone! How I came up with the idea to be a female filmmaker amongst the Seattle film industry is through Covid. I began modeling and participated in New York fashion week twice and traveled to places like Texas for fashion shows and photo shoots. This wasn’t fulfilling enough for me, and the industry was quite harsh to people my age, so I decided to pick up small acting roles. Through acting, I learned the in and outs of the field, and I learned about everyone’s role behind the scenes as well as in front of the lens. I enjoyed learning about the Director and writers role and one day after my first short film premiered in a small theater, I decided to write my own screenplay, and after my movie set was finished with preproduction and filmed from January to March 2022, and premiered in theaters March 13, 2022, I realize that directing was my real passion, and I have a lot of drive for it.
Rose , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
After beginning my film Director journey, I started opening up small businesses, such as lip, glosses, and jewelry by Rose, as well as opening up my first production company, Rose Kreider Productions. The intention behind my production company was for inspiring, screenplay writers to approach me with their movie ideas. My second film actually is a short film that’s a crime/thriller. And I was approached by a local screenplay writer that wanted his movie come to life. It’s called a A room by the road and it’s done very well. It’s an over 55 countries and over 20,000 plays. With my homemade lipgloss and jewelry, this is still a work in progress, and I am working on getting it in local gift shops! I have a website called Rosehut, but if you’re interested in learning more, please reach out to me on my socials.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One thing that every filmmaker has it, go through on a film set is flexibility, and to learn to adapt. For example, on my second day, assuming my first feature film, The Woman, there was a miscommunication with a place we were supposed to fill them at. We had permission, but when we arrived, they denied us to film at their store. It was 6 AM and I had 20 people on set so I had to learn how to adapt and be flexible with the situation. We ended up calling a local mom and pop grocery store and filmed there and it is one of the most essential scenes in the movie that I think we accomplished very well while thinking outside of the box.
Let’s talk M&A – we’d love to hear your about your experience with buying businesses.
Unfortunately, at this time, I have never bought a business, but that might be a call later on in life. Right now I’m working to build up my small business that includes lip gloss by Rose and handmade jewelry, as well as implementing my artistry and paintings and getting those in different art studios and ontop of ramping up Rose Kreider Productions. My main drive right now is getting my next feature film out, as well as starting my documentary and moving forward with production on that.
