Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Golden.
Hi Rose, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In true Rose fashion, I think it’s best we take the scenic route through my story since my path that has been anything but linear!
Let’s start in 2005. This time period is significant as it created my passion TV & Film. I can remember being captivated and inspired by the Disney Channel series ‘That’s So Raven.’ Seeing another young Black girl who was both fashionable and feisty, yet didn’t fit into the ‘standard’ was incredibly inspiring. Inspiring enough to help me dream of being on TV and in media. A dream that I ended up putting on the back burner for over ten years as I dealt with issues of confidence and insecurity.
During those years of putting my dream on hold, I found myself drawn to the hospitality industry, discovering a passion for customer service and event coordination. I did everything from choreographing a play in high school to serving as Vice President of Programming at my community college to organizing a fashion show for an audience of over 300 at my four-year institution. These roles sparked my love for people and bringing them together.
After graduating college in 2017, I was lost, like many other recent grads, and was unsure of my next steps. I gravitated toward community organizations, joining two that pushed me to believe in myself and my dreams. It was then that I began exploring content creation and marketing, embarking on a six-year journey of building community through content. During this time, I went into freelancing full-time, supporting myself through my passions. In 2022, I quit my last job to pursue my dreams, even though I didn’t yet know the path to get me there. I took on various roles—creating content for brands, assisting photographers, and working as a junior creative director—developing a vast and extensive skill set. Eventually, I craved depth over breadth and decided to focus my efforts.
Now here we are in 2024 and I’m finally building some momentum in my career. I’m channeling ALL my experience in content creation, marketing, event curation, management, hospitality, and customer service into my own unique path. It’s my goal to use all of the skills and experiences I’ve gained throughout the years to help me reach my ultimate dream of working in TV & Film.
In this season of my life I consider myself to be a Host, Event Coordinator, and Lifestyle Content Creator. Although sometimes it’s still hard to define exactly what I do or where I’m headed, I’m actively figuring it out as I go, and I’m excited about the journey ahead.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Simply put, absolutely not. I’m a multi-hyphenate and multi-passionate creative entrepreneur. That said, the most frustrating part of my journey has been the lack of focus and clarity. Other than aspiring to be on TV, I didn’t grow up have a specific career goal—I just knew how I wanted to feel and how I didn’t want to feel.
Through the many different roles I’ve experienced I realized traditional work environments often constrained me, stifling my creativity and sense of purpose. I came to the conclusion that entrepreneurship was the path for me as it would give me the most freedom and autonomy over my career. I’ve had to come to terms with the fact that I am literally creating my life and career as I go. I have to give myself grace to grow into someone I’ve never been before.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I do a lot! And I do a lot of things well, but my primary focus is building a wellness hub that creates community through online and in-person content and experiences. I aim to serve those looking to improve their overall health by focusing on their physical, social, and emotional wellness as a foundation.
One key aspect of my work is my show, “The Golden Hour with Rose Golden”, a talk show that honors the in-between. Each conversation stems from themes of wellness, personal development, and creativity, and engages with people about navigating the space between where they are and where they want to be. This show is a safe space to appreciate our current state while striving for future growth.
Over the past year, I also returned to producing events, which has been both exciting and fulfilling. Event production feels like the missing piece of my puzzle. Bringing people together is a true passion of mine, and I had forgotten how much it means to me.
I am most proud of my show and the events I produce because I pour so much intention and purpose into my work. I’m proud of pushing past doubts like “Who am I to do this?” and instead I ask, “Who am I not to do this?”.
What sets me apart is my vast range of different experiences which shows up in my content and events. I speak and create from my own journey and have a gift for gathering people. I approach both content creation and event coordination mindfully because I acknowledge the energy exchanges involved in both. This intentionality is what truly differentiates my work from others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
It’s funny because I often reflect on my life and wonder how different it might have been if I had made different decisions. I wouldn’t necessarily call it luck, however. Luck seems random, whereas I like to think of my life as guided by intention and purpose. While the people I’ve met and the organizations I’ve encountered might not have been directly orchestrated by me, they feel like the result of a desire or request I made to God. In addition, although my experiences and skills may seem random and all over the place to other people, I believe there is divine alignment at play here. I am believing that all the things in my life will one day work together for a greater mission and purpose.
What I’m saying is, I don’t attribute my path to luck. I believe my life has been divinely ordered and is taking me to places and spaces I can only imagine. As long as my intentions and desires remain pure, I trust that I’ll be placed in the right rooms and meet the right people to move me forward in my journey.
