We were lucky to catch up with Roscoe Robinson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Roscoe thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Certainly! Allow me to share a story about a risk I took in the realm of motivational speaking—a passion of mine that I had been nurturing for quite some time.
The backstory begins with my early fascination for public speaking and the power of words to inspire and uplift others. I had always been drawn to stories of personal transformation and believed in the potential for individuals to overcome challenges and achieve greatness. As I delved deeper into the world of motivational speaking, I started to develop my own unique message and style, eager to make a positive impact on people’s lives.
One day, an opportunity arose that would test my courage and commitment to this path. I received an invitation to speak at a renowned international conference on personal development. This event attracted thousands of attendees, including influential leaders, entrepreneurs, and individuals seeking inspiration. The magnitude of the occasion was both thrilling and intimidating.
However, there was a catch—I was invited to speak on the main stage, following a lineup of renowned speakers who had built illustrious careers in the industry. This meant that I would be sharing the platform with experts whose names were familiar to audiences worldwide. While it was an incredible honor, I couldn’t help but doubt my readiness to stand among such esteemed individuals.
Despite the uncertainty and self-doubt, I recognized that this was an opportunity I couldn’t let pass by. I knew deep down that growth and progress often required stepping outside of my comfort zone. So, with a mix of excitement and nerves, I decided to embrace the risk and accepted the invitation to speak on the main stage.
In the weeks leading up to the event, I dedicated myself to thorough preparation. I meticulously crafted my speech, focusing on delivering a message that would resonate deeply with the audience and inspire them to take action. I rehearsed relentlessly, refining my delivery and fine-tuning the nuances of my presentation.
Finally, the day of the conference arrived. As I walked onto the grand stage, surrounded by a sea of eager faces, I felt a surge of adrenaline mixed with a profound sense of responsibility. I poured my heart and soul into each word, sharing personal anecdotes, insights, and practical tools for personal growth. The audience’s response was beyond what I could have imagined—people were engaged, captivated, and visibly moved by the stories and strategies I shared.
In the aftermath of the event, the risk I had taken proved to be immensely rewarding. The conference organizers and attendees praised my talk, describing it as impactful and transformative. I received invitations to speak at various other conferences and events, establishing a reputation as a motivational speaker who could ignite passion and instigate positive change in others.
The risk I took in accepting the challenge to speak on the main stage propelled my career forward and solidified my belief in the power of embracing risks and stepping into the unknown. It taught me that sometimes, the greatest rewards lie just beyond the boundaries of our comfort zones.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Certainly! Building an audience on social media can be a challenging but rewarding endeavor. Here’s a story of how I built my own social media audience, along with some advice for those who are starting to build their online presence.
When I first embarked on building my social media presence, I knew that it would require consistent effort and strategic planning. I started by defining my target audience—identifying the individuals who would resonate with my content and benefit from what I had to offer. Understanding your audience is crucial because it helps you tailor your content to their interests and needs.
Next, I chose the social media platforms that aligned best with my content and target audience. Whether it’s Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, or LinkedIn, each platform has its unique features and user base. I focused on creating quality content that provided value and stood out in the crowded digital landscape.
Consistency played a vital role in my journey. I committed to a regular posting schedule, ensuring that my audience could rely on me for fresh and engaging content. By being consistent, I established credibility and built trust with my audience over time.
Engagement with my audience was another key aspect. I made it a point to respond to comments, messages, and inquiries promptly. Building a community requires genuine connection and fostering two-way communication. Engaging with your audience helps create a sense of belonging and encourages them to stay connected and interact with your content.
Collaboration is a powerful tool in growing your social media presence. I actively sought out partnerships and collaborations with individuals or brands that shared a similar target audience but offered complementary content. Collaborating with others exposes your content to a wider audience, helping you gain new followers and increase your reach.
Another valuable strategy is leveraging hashtags and trends. Researching and using relevant hashtags increases the discoverability of your content, allowing it to reach beyond your immediate followers. Additionally, staying aware of current trends and incorporating them into your content can help you stay relevant and attract new audiences.
To build a loyal and engaged audience, it’s crucial to provide value consistently. Whether it’s through educational content, entertaining videos, or thought-provoking discussions, offer something unique that keeps your audience coming back for more. Providing value establishes you as an authority in your niche and builds a sense of loyalty among your followers.
Finally, patience is essential when building your social media presence. Growing an audience takes time, effort, and perseverance. It’s important to stay focused on your goals, continuously improve your content, and adapt your strategies based on audience feedback and analytics.
In summary, building a social media audience requires defining your target audience, choosing the right platforms, consistency, engagement, collaboration, leveraging hashtags and trends, providing value, and patience. By following these strategies and staying true to your unique voice, you can gradually build a thriving online community.
