Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Roschelle Mccoy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Roschelle, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, let’s start with a hypothetical – what would you change about the educational system?
To better prepare students for a fulfilling life and career, the education system must undergo a fundamental shift in how it approaches learning. We need to re-evaluate the curriculum at each grade level, ensuring that the lessons taught are relevant to modern life. Just because certain subjects provided value decades ago does not mean they still serve the same purpose today. For example, while it is important to have a foundational understanding of mathematics, spending extensive time on advanced calculus or abstract algebra may not be necessary for the vast majority of students. Instead, the curriculum should prioritize knowledge and skills that directly impact everyday life and future career paths.
One significant change would be to place a stronger emphasis on life skills, such as managing finances and understanding basic economics. Courses that teach students how to budget, save, invest, and plan for the future would provide them with tools that are immediately applicable and essential for personal success. Additionally, introducing entrepreneurial courses could foster innovation and problem-solving skills, encouraging students to think creatively and independently about how they can contribute to the world. These courses would teach them to identify opportunities, develop business plans, and understand the risks and rewards of starting a business, which are invaluable skills in a rapidly changing economy.
By focusing more on these practical skills and less on specialized academic content that most students will never use after graduation, we can better prepare them for the challenges and opportunities of adult life. The goal of education should not only be to impart knowledge but also to equip students with the tools they need to lead successful, fulfilling lives. Re-aligning the curriculum to reflect the realities of the modern world would ensure that we are providing real value to the next generation, preparing them not just to succeed in school but in life.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Roschelle McCoy has a passion for helping everyday people understand the power of real estate investing so they can live a financially free life by design. I’ve been investing in real estate since 2017 and currently controls over $25M in real estate assets in Florida, Oklahoma and Illinois. I’m focused on creating safe, affordable housing in emerging markets across the US that provide excellent returns for passive investors while giving back to local communities and charitable organizations.
In 2020, I helped build, brand and market McCoy Property Inspections, a residential home inspection company serving central Illinois. In 2021 I founded Titanium Investments, a real estate investment firm helping everyday people like you passively invest in real estate.
My 20+ year business career has been focused on building and executing strategic marketing plans, consulting on digital marcom technologies, communications, and influencing the adoption of a new content management system across a complex matrix of diverse, global marketing teams. I’ve served on a committee for six years that raised millions for the local Heart of Illinois United Way chapter.
In my spare time I’m a mother of three very energetic boys, wife and dedicated advocate for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the St Jude Runs organization. I’ve served as treasurer for the Chicago to Peoria St Jude Run since 2020 and team captain since 2015. I’ve fundraised over $160K since 2011 through individual donations and special events, notably the annual River Bottom Country Runs for St Jude.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Two key elements to building my reputation:
1. Developing a personal brand. From a very young age I was always taught to work hard. I grew up in a large farming family and there was always plenty to do from chores around the house or farm, to tending the garden, cooking and don’t even get me started on the mountains of laundry that were ever-present. There was so much to be done in addition to balancing school and activities for seven children. To this day, when I see something that needs to be done I dig in and get started. Over the years I’ve built a reputation of being responsible, accountable and a person of integrity. These characteristics of my personal brand have been carried through into my real estate businesses and with the charity work that I do.
2. Displaying authenticity. As I’ve grown older, I’ve come to appreciate the power of being unapologetically myself. In our younger years, it’s easy to get caught up in trying to please others and caring too much about what people think. But as we age, we become more secure and confident in ourselves and our abilities.
Life’s experiences, both positive and negative, offer valuable lessons that shape who we are becoming as individuals. With each lesson, our confidence grows, and we further refine our sense of self—who we are to others and how we want to be perceived. This self-assuredness, in turn, helps to craft a personal brand and reputation that is true to our authentic selves. It’s this authenticity that resonates with others and helps to establish a strong and trustworthy reputation in the market.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Mike Morawski and I met on LinkedIn back in 2020 when online networking really became what all the cool kids were doing. He was offering up a free coaching call which was an offer I couldn’t resist. Mike and I hit it off and I decided to sign up for his coaching program to grow my business and multifamily skills. At the time I had been investing in real estate for several years but was looking to scale up to multifamily. Mike has over 35 years in the industry and tons of knowledge around all aspects of real estate.
Over the next nine months we got to know each other personally and professionally and connected on many different levels. When an opportunity came up to partner on a 40 unit multifamily property in Tampa, FL we agreed that it was time to give partnership a try and see where the journey would take us.
Now four years later Mike and I are still working together and have taken down nearly 300 multifamily units together and in partnership with other groups. We meet on a regular basis to talk about business goals (both long term and short team) and our personal goals that can be in part achieved through business success.
