We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rosalyn Osorto. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rosalyn below.
Hi Rosalyn, thanks for joining us today. Everyone has crazy stuff happen to them, but often small business owners and creatives, artists and others who are doing something off the beaten path are often hit with things (positive or negative) that are so out there, so unpredictable and unexpected. Can you share a crazy story from your journey?
My story happened with a popular brand name available at Target. They contacted me for a collaboration for the second time! The first time everything went well, and I enjoyed working with them! The second time, they sent influencers the instructions to complete the collaboration. I headed to the store and bought what I needed, I got home and created the content. A few days prior to the due date I received an email saying that the collaboration was canceled (this was during Covid time). I asked them to at least pay me for the work I had already done, I showed them receipts and photo previews of my work. They declined, and I asked if I could at least receive half payment, and they still declined. The positive about this is that now I learned to charge the full amount or at least half the agreed rate before I begin any work.
Rosalyn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
LynSire has a special meaning to me, “Lyn” because it’s part of my name Rosalyn, and “Sire” for desire. It was my desire to bring awareness about cruelty-free brands through beauty products, outfits, and food items that don’t involve any cruelty to animals. I believe that we can live a happy lifestyle without any innocent beings getting hurt in the process.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
You can grow an audience too with dedication and consistency. My audience is always growing, and that’s the beauty of social media that it keeps growing as long as you keep going.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Yes, I wish I would have taken a blogging and Pinterest course sooner. Knowing what you’re doing not only gives you the knowledge but also gives you the confidence needed to grown on social media.
