We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rosa Nemorin . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rosa below.
Rosa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about one of the craziest things you’ve experienced in your journey so far.
Well I have a unique story to share. I had a bride and groom that had VERY different opinions on everything. Even things they should have been working on before getting engaged: religion, how they thought about money, where to live. At every planning meeting, there was always a discussion about one of those topics. We had a meeting one afternoon to finalize design details.
Their discussion started to get very heated and very odd we were discussing where the aisle would go and how the bride would enter. The groom literally went ballistic over which set of doors the bride would come in. It was strange and once the fight started, there was no stopping it. I sat between them at the head of the table like the divorce attorney would. They went back and forth arguing and her mother was there. She was beside herself. The groom called the bride spoiled (again, over the aisle so it wasn’t really about the aisle) and she took the ring off and threw it so hard and fast that I am surprised she didn’t hurt him. She got up and said it’s over. Walked out. I had to go after her, calm her down then go talk to the groom. I had to (on the spot) pull paperwork for them to sign (since they had signed the original contract together) to go forward and start undoing everything.
It was a toxic relationship from the beginning and it was very sad that they went as far into the planning as they did. They fought over every wedding detail too. If she wanted white cake, he wanted chocolate. If she wanted a ballroom, he wanted a barn. It was very strange to have a groom that was so set on what HE WANTED for HIS wedding. Most couples refer to it as “our” wedding.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Multitasking is my forte and I work best under pressure. My love for planning meaningful events grows more and more each day and I can’t thank God enough for just allowing me to run with it. I am truly grateful for the path He has set out for me. I find joy in planning for my clients (many of whom become like family!) and all the logistics involved in between. Because really… it’s all in the details!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I enjoy the overall logistical process of planning an event: venue sourcing, vendor selections, contract negotiations, managing the timeline and tracking the budget and keeping the team updated on milestones & deadlines. Currently, I’m working on advancing my creative production skills. My ultimate goal is to own several locations within US and overseas to expand my brand into a well known business and also to still provide my clients dreams of a beautiful event into reality and just give them a moment in time that they will forever cherish and treasure.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I’ve discovered that creative jobs are like jewels: no two are ever exactly the same. There is no set path or guide so we must create our own path. You must trust your gut, instincts, hobbies, and curiosity.
However, because of the distinguished Uniqueness of a creative profession, it might prove difficult to find the resources you require to execute the type of work you want to create or the artistic career path you want to follow. So I’ve come to understand that the most valuable resource we have is each other.
Network among other creatives and artists. Learn from them, be inspired by them, and bounce ideas off of each other. Regardless of how different their trajectory looks compared to yours, you are still able to become inspired by various methods used to achieving success in the creative industry. Now I comprehend the importance and value of that. Be aware of making comparison. Fellow artists and creatives are not your rivals. Instead, they may be useful as sources of inspiration, role models, possible collaborators, and kindred spirits, transforming their own distinctive paths in tandem with you. After all, absolutely nobody will be able to express themselves in your own voice as sincerely as you can.
