We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Room 13. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with the members of Room 13.
Hi Room 13, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The meaningful projects that Room 13 are working on at the moment is their upcoming debut album called Ode to Infamy ten songs of blistering, unfiltered, catchy rock n roll. Here’s the band on the subject, “We’ve been working on Ode to Infamy for awhile we only wanted to release an EP & jump to a full album of songs that are top quality balls to wall rock n roll that we are proud of. We hope to release around the summertime & tour the US with another local band tearing through each city & turning them into shreds with our songs & liveshow we pride ourselves on going 100% at the shows playing our songs live giving the crowd a great show for a fair price unlike those old bands that people spends hundreds to see that are a shell of themselves & play a show that isn’t even a quarter as good as ours like Motley Crue & Bon Jovi. This album & tour we are planning mean a lot to us because it’s going to show the underground everything we got & that we’re hungry & we aren’t stopping until success is in our grasps.”
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
ROOM 13 were formed in early 2023 by vocalist/primary songwriter Jey to be the best band around taking gritty & catchy rock n roll to the masses even if it’s just one venue at a time & they have been playing live shows ever since. They have released a debut EP called the Filth & the Fury & it has been steadily receiving radio-play with local & international radio stations such KXT, KEXP, & many college radio stations from North & South America & Europe. Room 13 have been featured in local magazines like Dallas Observer and ASBO Magazine talking about the band’s story/music praising their music & liveshows. They have also signed with management company LMSUK a few months ago & have been turning into a live show force to be reckoned with while slowing building their social media as much as they can to grow their fanbase & provide people with great rock n roll for the modern era their goal is to release as much music as they can tour the world & hopefully sign to a good label. Room 13 are band that you must check out live because they’re taking no prisoners on their way to the top here’s what some people said about their previous shows, “Their shows are like a bomb of rock going off, it was so electric & raw. The masked drummer was like a punk joey jordison he was so scary but so cool on the kit, the bassist was laying down an intense groove serving the song, the guitarist sound was like a buzzsaw tearing through everything it was awesome, & the singer was incredible he was like a mix of Iggy Pop & Layne Staley live it was something special. They were so cool after the show hanging with the fans & signing stuff really great band!” Well your heard it first Room 13 are a rock band that are the next thing to watch in DFW!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
We asked Room 13’s frontman Jey about the most rewarding aspect of being an artist & being in a band here’s what he had to say, “The most rewarding aspect for me is hard to say because there are quite a few rewarding things about the gig, the high of playing live to people whether it’s be to tens or to hundreds of people going all out feeding off the rest of the band firing on all cylinders to make rock n roll magic that’s exciting & it’s what people need to see. I would also have to say the joy of writing music that’s honest & mean something to me, writing about my problems & the world around me it’s liberating putting my emotions into writing a quality song. Also last but not least making music that connects to others, the fans that connect with Room 13 are a great & growing fanbase providing support every step of the way from all around the world them coming to shows headbanging & showing support & being apart of something bigger. It feels a bit weird signing cd’s or broken guitars or being told a song really connects someone because I would say the same to the same bands I fell in love with but it feels good helping people through music I hope to do it for the rest of my life.”
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
We also asked Room 13’s frontman Jey about their goal here’s what he had to say, “I would say Room 13’s goal to make great rock n roll & hopefully to make a living off the music we play & love. We hope to release music on a good label indie or major in the future & tour all over the world providing great rock n roll proving that there is a whole modern era of rock band’s that’s left to pick up what legendary bands from 70s to the 90s left off we’re a small part of whole new age of rock bands that are exciting not just in Dallas but all over the world & hoping to break to the next level & we soon hope to lead the charge for that because on our best day we’re a band that’s untouchable live, that’s entrances people getting them going, & the songs we have released or unreleased mean something not just to ourselves but to others. We hope to be the biggest band we can absolutely be playing rock to tons of people to be the best is a clear cut answer basically.” It seems like Room 13 are a young band with major talent & aspirations don’t be surprised when the world knows their name in a few years.
