We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ronshay Cole a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ronshay , appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
S.H.E.E.D.S: Sharing Happy Experiences Everyone Deserves became a dream in 2016, as I began to plan my destination wedding. This sparked my passionate interest to become a wedding planner. The name SHEED’s originated from Rasheed my beloved baby brother. During his 27 years of life he suffered from kidney failure, leading to dialysis. Due to frequent hospitalizations, he was unable to experience the life we often take for granted. This business is in his honor💜
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I fell in love with “creating from a blank canvas on a budget” and can’t help but to be proud of my most valuable quality I’M A HOPELESS ROMANTIC! Spending time with my family attending numerous cousins’ weddings, family reunions, and life’s special milestone events sparked my interest at a young age for Wedding and Event decor. The love and excitement that fills the environment as it pours positivity into the atmosphere is unmatched! Observing from the spectator’s lenses trained my natural eye to become more aware of each and every detail that prepares for the magic to happen! I specialize in the unthought of details. Whether it’s maintaining all your wedding keepsakes until you return from honeymoon, returning the wedding attire rentals, or returning the under agers to the sitters before the reception gets wild! My mission is to have stress non-existent factor in my client’s day. Executing the destination wedding of my dreams prepared me to deal with every situation imaginable that could happen. So, I make it a top priority to provide the absolute best customer service to all of my clients on a budget that can be affordable.
The events that I have organized and executed for my family are the events that I am most proud of. The proud feeling of accomplishment that shines brightly on my son’s face at his 8th grade graduation party was a moment he and I will forever share. My daughters look of awe and amazement once she watched her birthday vision “Princess and the Frog” theme sweet 16 party come to life. Creating personalized centerpieces is a detail that sets my company apart from others.
The joy I get from the service I provide is extremely fulfilling.
To execute my vision of what I wanted my business to represent took countless hours at the library researching, late nights in my son’s room on his desktop lol to educate myself on the history of weddings and the wedding planning business. I then enrolled into The international Association of Professions Career College to seek mentorship, and educational programs and obtained a Wedding Planner Certificate in June 2022.
With yearly milestones occurring there was always an opportunity to create and execute a beautiful vision! With each event, I became more confident and creative. My goal is to remain passionate about my brand and company to create the best vision from a blank canvas that the customer could ever imagine.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I felt defeated from the reality of closing down my business. However I was able to start a new business with the same Mission and values that were important to me. Resilience to me Is continuing working towards the goal when the vision becomes blurry!
We’d appreciate any insights you can share with us about selling a business.
S. H.E.E.D’S Sharing Happy Experiences Everyone Deserves started out as a 28 passenger party bus transportation service business. During the pandemic the insurance and storage fees were too expensive to afford. With no income generating from the business, I had to close down my business and sell my party bus. It was a very hard decision to make, but I had to realize closing one door, was just the motivation I needed to prepare for keys to open a new door of opportunity.
