We recently connected with Ronny Flissundet and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ronny, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I must say that RULE OF TWO has been by far the musical and creative project I’ve worked on that has felt the most meaningful.
Here is the backstory and some thoughts:
Me & partner in crime Kristian Liljan met back in 1997 at a musician’s school outside of Trondheim, Norway, where we immediately connected both musically and socially, and have written and done musicals projects together ever since. Our background mostly have roots in punk, hardcore, rock and metal of various sorts, but we both also have always been fond of electronic music and more awkward indie and industrial stuff.
Fast forward to the fall of 2023, where after years of rock band touring and music writing in the bands Dunderbeist and Damokles ( Kristian playing bass, Ronny guitars and backing vocals), we wanted to try and write something completely different, putting in a mixture of inspirations from back when we met in the first place, adding various sounds like Portishead, Depeche Mode, Afghan Whigs and Deftones into a mix of electronic vibes and soundscapes, favorizing programmed beats and loops and synthesizers colored by 80s and 90s dream pop, darkwave and electronica. And all of a sudden our first track “Bygones” was written and recorded, and it was the end of the world as we knew it.
RULE OF TWO was born, and more than 30 songs have been written and recorded since, us working continuously and ambitiously in our home studios.
Rule Of Two went public in January 2024 with the release of the single and music video to our very first song “Bygones”- being the single number 1 from the “Drowning”- EP (released June 2024), which gathered all our monthly released tracks throughout the winter and spring.
The second EP is also done, and singles are being released monthly as we speak, untill the EP release next January.
All the tracks also have its own music video, produced by ourselves ( mainly Kristian on that part).
And if that is not enough, we also have written a full album in addition, planned for a October 2025 release.
It may seem like we’re just puking out whatever comes into mind, but that is what makes this project som beautiful; we put insane amounts of effort into every detail, every verse, every pick of synthesizer sound, every artwork etc. It’s pure quality, and the well of inspiration never dries out between the two of us and the way we are working together.
I ‘ve been in many bands and project for the last 30 years, but not one where everything comes so easy to mind.
Pure creative and all-consuming joy.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I think i may have covered a lot this in my previous answer, but i can bring more depth into it:
I started palying the guitar when I was eleven or so, taught by mo mother. I very quickly took to it, and passed her skillwise, giving lots of practice and effort into it, and soon I also started writing songs, lyrics and doing vocals as well.
I have been in bands since the age of 16, recorded a whole lot, travelled and toured a whole lot ( mainly Europe) and learned a whole lot + meeting so many nice and fascinating people on the way.
All these experiences again culminates into further creativity, and is a bart of the baggage i brought along to the current date.
RULE OF TWO is my focus project nowadays, and we are currently ( except writing and recording) putting together what is to become the live band, touring in 2025 when the album comes out. And that is a really exciting project, as I have never toured or done live projects with this kind of music before. But the team put together are all extremely talented and experienced, so I think the world is in for a treat!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The creative part, where you make something from absolutely nothing. That’s real life magic actually. Just think about it. A creative artist, writer etc do not have any raw material to use for producing. It’s all in the mind and fantasy. So you are actually making whatever from absolutely nothing.
And that is one of the most rewarding feelings I can think of.
It’s not about money or success og instagram likes or whatnot. It’s the process that drives me.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
No zero days. Every day, at least once a day, create and put out some kind of content. Do some thing every single day to push your project forwards, be it small or big.
Plus be humble and nice. Interact with whoever shows interest, and dont be afraid to share.
