Ronny, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Fresh Sips started by wanting to provide another healthy option, with natural ingredients for my family. As a kid, my family place major emphasis on natural remedies and with my grandparents being from Jamaica, we had access to a number of those natural remedies. Growing up my mother has always suffered from health issues and had to take a lot of medications. During the pandemic, I took the opportunity to learn about other options. With my findings, sea moss was one that caught my eye. It contained so many minerals that our bodies need, along with many helpful benefits. Starting in 2020, I started taking sea moss and noticed how it has improved my health. So naturally since it was helpful to me, I started my mom on a regimen as well. Sea moss has helped to improved her health in many ways, like balancing out her blood pressure, increasing her energy, decrease inflammation, helping build her immune system, helping her hair and skin and much more.
By thinking of my mother and wanting to just make healthier choices in my life, did I think this could be the start of something at first? No. Yet, the idea of trying to find a better or healthier option to some of the daily options we have in life, then why not try to make a business out of it. I wanted to share what I have learned with everyone around me and others. That is what got me excited to take that step to venture out and make a business of it. Would it be a challenge? Yes, but that is what also pushed me! So the challenge has been accepted.

My name is Ronny, the owner of Fresh Sips. Why Fresh Sips? It makes me think of every time you take your sea moss, you notice the freshness in every sip or spoonful you take. I make and sell sea moss products, from raw sea moss, sea moss gel, drinks, and all skin care items that contain sea moss. I started taking sea moss for myself and family after learning about all the benefits it provides for our bodies. I provide authentic sea moss. To this, I did my research to make sure I am providing real, authentic, and 100% wild source sea moss. By doing this I make sure that I am providing the best to my customers. Along with using natural ingredients.
I am most proud of how my products make my customers feel. The feeling of how customers can actually notice or see a difference, is what brings me joy. Knowing that the products I offer are helping, makes me want to keep pushing for them! I do this not only for myself but my customers. I try to provide the most benefits and answer all questions a customer may have about sea moss.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I strongly believe that the product speaks for itself. Sea moss has many benefits that help our bodies inside and out. I also, made sure that I was educated about the products I provide, so I am able to stand behind them. I feel this has helped build my reputation within my market. I am always trying to educate myself more about sea moss and its benefits that it provides. This makes my customers feel at ease when buying my product and even discussing certain things about the product. How many times have you gone to buy something and stopped after asking for more information and felt you did not get a good answer? I don’t like that feeling, so I don’t want my customers to feel that way either. That is one of the main reasons I am always striving to learn more and to give the best quality experience to my customers. I want my customers to feel the passion and the knowledge behind what I do. Also, actively participating in community events helps the customers put a face a name.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I keep in touch with my customers by actively doing events in my community, maintaining a consistent social media presence and managing an email subscription list. I feel by getting out and actually talking to people and teaching them about sea moss and its benefits has really helped. I am able to connect with customers on a personal level and they are able to see who is behind the business. I share my own stories and how it has benefitted me and the different ways I use sea moss. I try to provide options for my customers and learn what their needs are. Once a customer makes a purchase, I reach out afterwards asking for feedback. This helps me to continue to grow personally and professionally. I feel keeping a good line of communication is what helps your business to be successful. Once a customer becomes family, they bring others into the family. So, referrals are one of the biggest forms of compliments that I receive. I like to go back and let the person know who did the referring that I appreciate them.
