We recently connected with Ronnie Kenyatta and have shared our conversation below.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Ronnie Kenyatta, and I’m the founder of RK Strength Training and creator of the Integrated Athletic Enhancement (I.A.E.) Program. I’ve been in the strength and conditioning industry for over 20 years, including 12 years as a strength coach in professional baseball with the New York Mets organization. My journey began with a love for sports, a strong desire to help people, and a deep curiosity about human performance — both physical and mental.
At RK Strength Training, we focus on developing complete athletes through a combination of physical training and mindset development. We work with youth, high school, collegiate, and professional athletes, as well as high-performing adults. Our programs include speed and agility training, strength development, cognitive training (visualization, self-talk, mindset work), and recovery strategies. We also offer online courses, customized training plans, and educational resources for parents and coaches.
In addition to our athlete programs, we offer Awaken Your Inner Athlete — a results-driven fitness experience designed to help adults reignite their competitive edge, restore energy, and train with purpose.
What sets us apart is our integrated approach — we don’t just train bodies; we train the mind and nervous system as well. My personal health journey, including overcoming a kidney disease and dealing with anxiety, pushed me to study techniques that go beyond traditional sports performance. I’ve incorporated principles from Chinese medicine’s 5 Element Theory, neurocognitive training, and sports psychology into our work. The result is a program that builds not only faster, stronger athletes — but more focused, confident, and emotionally resilient individuals.
I’m most proud of the long-term impact we’ve made on athletes’ lives — not just in their sports careers, but in their overall personal development. Many of our clients leave more disciplined, more aware, and better equipped to handle life’s challenges.
For those just learning about us, I want you to know that we care about the full development of every athlete. Our mission is to prepare athletes not just to compete — but to thrive. Whether you’re a parent looking to guide your child toward their potential, a coach seeking reliable support, or an athlete ready to level up, RK Strength Training is here to help you unlock complete performance — mind and body.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the most defining chapters of my life began when I was diagnosed with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), a chronic kidney disease that eventually led me to undergo dialysis and, in 2017, receive a kidney transplant. What made the transplant even more meaningful was that the donor was a lifelong friend — an Irish-American who selflessly gave me a second chance at life.
While the physical battle was difficult, the mental toll may have been even greater. I experienced intense anxiety, which only worsened as I placed more pressure on myself to succeed and “push through” instead of slowing down. That stress manifested in negative thinking, self-doubt, and at times, a complete loss of internal balance.
I reached a turning point when I decided to invest in my own healing. I joined PowerCore to overcome my fear of public speaking and build confidence in sharing my story. I also began using the Inner Balance tool, which helped restore my nervous system and bring a sense of emotional regulation back into my daily life.
These tools gave me space to breathe — mentally, physically, and spiritually. Today, I’m proud to say I’m living a healthier, more grounded life, and I use these experiences to help others tap into the resilience they already have within. My journey hasn’t just been about survival — it’s been about transformation.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My social media journey has been a learning experience with its share of ups and downs, but I’ve found a system that works. While there’s still room to grow, my account is now consistently gaining traction — currently at 22.5K followers on Instagram.
If I could offer one piece of advice, it would be this: consistency is everything. Aim to post at least once a day, and up to three times if possible. Study the algorithm — or follow trusted experts who do — and implement their strategies with precision.
Equally important is understanding your niche. Learn your audience’s needs, demographics, pain points, and desires — then create content that directly addresses them. Always post with your audience in mind. Their interests come first; your preferences come second.
Success on social media comes from serving others with value, clarity, and consistency.
