Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Roniesha Seaton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Roniesha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
When I published “The Blossoming of Me.” Which is my story, written by myself, is about how my hardships led me to victory. I had a vision to one day turn my publication into a curriculum for middle and high school-age ladies. Not sure how to implement my full vision, I started with the resources available to me. I knew individuals that worked in education, and I would ask numerous questions to get an idea of how to design my curriculum. I learned that the demand called for Social and Emotional Learning development (SEL), and that was perfect because my publication is the perfect example of how to use SEL skills in anyone’s everyday life.
I developed several curriculums and pitched every one of them until the one I envisioned took my career, but most importantly, the young ladies I mentored perspectives on life to the next level.
I would create a prospect list of schools, organizations, group homes, etc., and contact them via email or phone. I never received a no, but often I didn’t receive responses. I never allowed that to discourage me because I knew I had a vision that would change a generation.
After pushing this curriculum for over two years with Covid-19 playing a factor, I made a call on my prospect list that changed not only my life but the lives of those with whom I came in contact with.
I facilitated my vision to turn my publication into a curriculum titled; I Am’s readers and writers book club, where “The Blossoming of Me.” was the source of my teaching.
I Am’s Reader’s, and Writer’s curriculum is a 24-week program that assists in the development of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and interpersonal skills that are an
integral part of school and life advancement. The ultimate goal is to identify and develop personal goals, rebuild and strengthen relationships with peers, school staff, and family members, and produce academic success. Students are challenged to set personal development goals, including behavior expectations, through interactive writing activities, character education, and peer-to-peer activities.
This course gave students a safe space to speak, be heard, and confront their traumas. The apogee of this course was where students were challenged to scribe a publication that ultimately was compiled into a book and published titled “Let E Go.”
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a risk taker; there are no limits; I don’t take no for an answer when pursuing my goals, and I teach others how to do the same. Because I was once a broken little girl surrounded by trauma and dysfunction, I know what it feels like not to believe in yourself. So, before anyone can become confident enough to take risk, they must learn what part of their story stole their confidence and replaced it with fear.
What makes my approach unique is my ability to relate on various levels and assist with one’s process to healing and regaining confidence.
Within my business, I wear multiple hats. I am a motivational speaker, life coach, film director, publisher, 4x author, and program developer & facilitator. Each area of my business primarily focuses on turning tragedies into possibilities.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my social media platform by just starting. I would post on my forum daily, giving motivational messages. Over time I began to tag random pages to my videos with the thought in mind, “maybe the person I tagged needs my message.”
Social media is what got me to where I am today. I was noticed on social media and received my first real opportunity to serve others. Through social media, I’ve made many connections that have led to friendships, partnerships, and business transactions.
For the person just starting, be authentic, stay true to your goals, find different ways to be creative, and lastly, don’t get lost in likes, comments, and your amount of followers. Someone is always watching! Your number of followers doesn’t define you or the amount of business you’ll bring forth.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Referrals. With every connection that is made, I ask for referrals. Never be afraid to ask your clients to spread the word. Word-of-mouth promotion is essentially the best promotion.
