We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Roniesha Adams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Roniesha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
After graduating from college in 2016 as a double honors major in Education, I packed my bags and left my hometown in Youngstown Ohio. I decided to move to Columbus, Ohio to pursue greater opportunities.
The backstory of my career path in cosmetics began in middle school. I was bullied by my classmates. I was called “raccoon eyes” or “raccoon” by classmates due to my skin pigmentation. At that time, I slowly began questioning my appearance, as my self-confidence was low and I wasn’t quite aware of a skincare regimen at this age. I knew this was inherited and something I couldn’t control as my skin changed over the years. I concluded that my confidence and humbleness would need to be balanced over time.
After emerging through my teenage years, I entered the workforce. Before lashes were a trend, I began adding them to my face before work as a small enhancement to change my appearance, as well as foundation to cover the pigmentation. I then began to get questions from co-workers about who my lash artist was. I was ecstatic to share that I was my own lash artist and soon began to take appointments from my kitchen table at the age of nineteen.
As time went on, I began to truly understand; that when you look good you feel good! This was the period in my life where I spent plenty of time alone playing with makeup and discovering new things to refine my skills. I then went on to become certified in various techniques.
Eventually, I wrote the vision and made it plain which allowed me to seek further opportunities awaiting me all while building my relationship and allowing God to lead my path.
It’s very hard to take risks without faith. Faith and fear cannot exist at the same time.
Life is constantly changing so we must adapt to move forward. Each time you learn something new it seems like you unlock another level to move forward. Risk is present no matter what we do. Upon packing my bags within a month I took my first risk and moved away from home to pursue more opportunities in a larger city Columbus OH.
I immediately went to pursue and learn new skills in the beauty field. I then became a Licensed Esthetician and decided to rent my first location working in 80 sq FT I was determined for 4 years. Most winters I barely kept up. I was in and out of jobs just to make ends meet. I feel like my faith was wavering.
I knew something had to change to overcome the storm. I walked past a for sale sign next door to my 80 sqft space and decided to go bigger, knowing this would open more doors for me. I made a few calls, and set up dates to meet, Not knowing what I was going to do with the larger space. I spoke with a friend who advised me that the door was being opened in front of me. I honestly allowed God to lead me.
I took a risk and jumped into a larger space. From that moment I went to the drawing board and mapped out all possible opportunities available and decided to start knocking off my goals little by little. Now here we are a year later and the business has expanded offering additional services.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I AM LadyRO, an Event Host/ Producer, Licensed Esthetician, Permanent Makeup Specialist, Bridal Makeup Artist, Beauty Educator with a cosmetics brand and so much more. Overall evolving as a serial entrepreneur. My everyday service offered is Microshading/ Ombre Brows allowing the eyes to appear brighter with a more unified look replacing filling your brows with a brow pencil.
As a “Beauty brand” I have completed many weddings in the past few years. Using beauty as an opportunity to change and enhance the lives of those who I come in contact with and sending beautiful brides down the aisle.
Once I mastered my skills in beauty, I decided to spread my wings to educate and empower other women to become successful entrepreneurs. Completing my first Beauty Class in 3 different cities by 2018. I found I could still use the skills studied in college for creating detailed education courses, and providing Makeup, Lash and Brow training certifications, to women across the country.
In 2021 I expanded once more to a newly launched business, LadyRO Studios. It has been ranked #1 for the best Paint & Sip Events in Columbus, Ohio. The focus has been to collaborate with other artists allowing them to grow and expand Paint & Sip events. Art is therapeutic providing guests the opportunity to dance, sing, reduce stress and increase self-expression. All while in an active entertainment environment.
My personality sets me apart from others. I am a people-oriented person and smile often. I am often told by others that I exhibit high energy. I can have a conversation with anyone, always to encourage or positively impact them. I am aware of this power to make people laugh or smile and it is very fulfilling. I even won class clown in High School, as I think about it, with the focus of encouraging brighter days. Using these personality traits has allowed people to gravitate toward me and developing into business endeavors many times. My goal is to not be outworked, keep a positive mindset and continue to drive and get back up when things don’t go as expected. My purpose is to empower and be an example of possibility and to always leave others better than I found them.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Many people live in fear, and seeing others live in fear was all around me at one point. I chose to always be fearless, and take risks. Fear and faith are intangible concepts. Fear keeps us stuck in self sabotage while faith encourages us to expand, grow and practice habits to improve. Manifest positive thoughts only and emotions remove negative thoughts. Learning to visualize the benefits of stepping beyond your comfort zone. Books have encouraged my way of thinking and life has unfolded to prove these methods for me.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is making another woman’s confidence shoot through the roof. I provide an entire experience. My focus is Transforming, empowering, and building confidence in women. Guaranteed by the time you leave my chair you will feel renewed, and confident.
Sending brides down the aisle and being the positive energy prior to .
I often think, you never know the impact your presence can make on the next person. Often when someone is passing by, I will greet them with a smile or a wave, most cases even small conversations. My goal is to uplift one woman at a time. Even on days when things are bothering me. What people don’t know is, it helps me the most and I am able to be reenergized, empowered, make an impact on others and push on.
