Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Roni and Kim, owners of Snack Break Studio. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ladies, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
We created Snack Break Studio based on the idea that our best work is done together. We were both running our own separate businesses and always dreamed of working together. We finally took the leap and decided to combine forces and create a business that leveraged the power of art and design, despite the warning that you shouldn’t go into business with a friend.
We truly believe that our skill sets compliment each other, and because of this collaboration, we are able to take on more complex projects. We love guiding a project from concept sketch to reality and truly enjoy bringing a collective vision come to life.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Roni has a background in large-scale mural installation, custom interior painting and 3D installations. Roni is experienced at installing in-environment pieces by working with large-scale design specifications, as well as using the grid method to install murals.
Kim is currently working as a freelance graphic designer and artist. Throughout her career, she’s worked as a designer for several local brand agencies, as an in-house art director and as an in-house lead UX designer. Kim left her corporate job to pursue a full-time freelance art and design career. She mostly works as a print artist and her current obsession is Risograph printing.
Together, we have over 30 years of combined professional experience in our respective fields. Our main area of focus is murals and installations and strive to work with open-minded community leaders and business owners, who want to create human connections through the unstoppable power of art and design.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Something that we’ve learned is that our work is not for everyone and not every project is right for us. Rather, we are intentional about finding clients that are in alignment with our values and appreciate and trust our expertise. We also believe in the value of our work and have reached a point in our careers where we only want to take on work that we truly believe in. We believe: the better the match, the better the work.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
We truly appreciate when a client trusts us to understand their goals and vision, but ultimately exceeds their expectations of what they thought was possible. When given clear parameters, we know we can collaborate and solve any creative puzzle.
