We were lucky to catch up with Ronald Fedrick recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ronald, appreciate you joining us today. Any thoughts about whether to ask friends and family to support your business. What’s okay in your view?
I feel like family and friends should support just because it’s you, but that’s not how it works in some cases. I mean if you have a product to push it will be a plus one for a close friend or relative to be the first tester, but sometimes you have to let them catch on. When I started I didn’t think twice about opinions because I knew that my drive, work ethic, and authenticity would grab the public eye and the people around me had no choice but to be apart of what’s going on. I never took no as an answer my best advice to anyone is to push your product through your city and town, then watch the reaction. Family and friends could be your biggest downfall just because you guys may be in the same market and somehow your product overlap theirs and that’s where secret business rivalries begin. I love the support from my close ones but my drive is for the people who listen and understand and apply what I’m saying to their grind. The culture is your best friend.
Ronald, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I go by OMB Sipp I come from a small town where marketing and advertising is needed. I love my hometown they who got me where I am now, not saying I’m where I want be but that takes time. Every time there was an obstacle I elevated tremendously, I knew for a fact the universe wasn’t made in a day so I know that there are steps that had to be taken whether it’s with someone you genuinely love or even if it’s alone, you have to go through with your plan. I counted every loss I took as a life lesson it taught me how to move, what not to do, how to approach the situation if I’m ever put in it again.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Consistency is key, the people are not going to like every single piece of product you put out and that’s just real life. You’re going to have times when you’re trying something different, and you may have bad feedback, but now you have a variety of work to promote. You never know who catch on that’s why it’s important to keep it coming, I have over 500 unreleased songs different genres and all, I’m in a time where some people push all their best work at one time not me, I try to make my product to share at anytime. You know, it’s like bread or dinner rolls I mean you can pull the 2 out for almost any meal, so I want my music to be versatile like those side items, although you need a main dish in order to bring your side items, but if you get what I’m saying my sound is for any event you can name. I’m not a drill rapper, r&b singer, nor a gospel artist, I feel as if I make generational music I give it out raw and authentic so when I’m heard I’ll touch every mood you’re feeling in your body not just one mood.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to learn everybody can’t go with you. I think that’s one of the hardest lessons I had to learn and still struggle to learn in life. Everybody that you consider a teammate will not fit the criteria in certain settings and there’s nothing wrong with that, your team is there to support and branch off from you for bigger things in life. Everyone not an all star everybody can’t be Tom Brady or Steph Curry someone has to be the water boy or trainer, the janitor even make differences in life. If everyone is trying to be seen and heard over you as the leader of the team what’s left for you to do, where do you stand at this point, and everyone don’t have the best interest in your game plan. If the president asks to meet you, your spouse, and children you can’t invite the whole home team it’s never going to go as planned the goal is to be on but put everyone around you on in their own lane though because no matter who the person is everyone is out here by the grace of God to serve a purpose.
